My First Grail Watch: Michele Sofisti Of Gucci Watches, Girard-Perregaux, And JEANRICHARD
Welcome back to the original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with Michele Sofisti, who has been in the watch industry since the mid-90s, and has be at the helm of a number of luxury watch brands which as of today includes running Gucci Watches, Girard-Perregaux, and JEANRICHARD. Yes, that is a lot. With his grail watch, I think many will find it refreshing that it was a timepiece that many aspire to, or perhaps even have already acquired - and certainly a common one in the grail watch series. What I think is most unique here is that Mr. Sofisti eventually ended up working as CEO of the brand who made his first grail - nice bit of synchronicity there!watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Michele Sofisti (MS): I'm CEO of Sowind Group, as well as CEO of Gucci watches and jewellery. I'm about a week into owning my AP RO. Here are some of my general thoughts1) Great bracelet so comfortable to wear and light, the watch sits very flat 2) Love the sound of the 22K rotor zipping around ever so often and the looks of the rotor are just killer and a great conversation starter3) The dial face I catch myself zoning out and staring at the craftmanship4) My only negative is that the watch is a scratch magnet :( I picked up some scratches on the bezel on day 2 of ownership and I'm still not sure how it happened. But I'll wear them with pride until I send the watch for servicing~Overall proud owner and member of the AP club.
Prices for red gold (pink gold/everrose gold) Omegas?
I don't see them very often...anybody know much a full (ie, non-leather strap) red gold seamaster or speedmaster variant would cost?Thanks..
Broke My Explorer II :(
I was changing the date on my 5 digit ExII to catch it up with the short month, Plus I haven't worn it for about a week. To change the date, you advance the hour hand around twice independently. It will click from hour to hour. Then, I noticed it was no longer clicking, but merely spinning around the dial. It's still changes the date, but it is no longer running with the time. I wonder how expensive this will be?
Got the Call!
Picking up my first Rolex on Thursday.I explained that I would likely require an extra link however the saleswoman was a bit surprised at this and that it would need to be ordered in. I thought this seemed a little odd and would have expected them to at least have a couple available. She said we would see how we got on and didn't seem keen to order this in advance however I knownfor certain I'll need at least 1 extra link. Looks like I might be waiting a few more days...Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
