Armin Strom Reveals First In-House Made Movement, The Calibre ARM09
Armin Strom is the newest watch makers around who is proud to announce that they will be making their own movements. Funded by some big money gentlemen who want results, they wanted their brand to have in-house made movements, so they made it happen. Until now Armin Strom watches featured impressively decorated movements sourced from ETA, but that is all about to change. The ARM09 is proof of that. Usually when a watch maker releases their first in-house made movement it is fine. Nothing special, but it is still their own "baby." Armin Strom on the other hand has given us something very pretty, with impressive specs to make. One thing I can't get out of my mind. The design on the movement has an uncanny resemblance to another watch I know. Compare the Armin Strom calibre ARM09 with the MB&F HM3 (specially the Sidewinder). I don't even need to explain, you'll see how similar they are. ARM09 stands for "Armin?? Reserve Marche 2009." This should make sense. For those who don't know, Re
Problems with AP RO 15400!
Hi everyone. My newish AP RO 15400 has an issue. One of the screws on the front face seems to have come loose. The screw sticks up above the bezel. (it's the screw at the 4) I don't want to try to screw it back as these screws are high polish and the bezel seems to be cut for the screws. Should I just take it to the boutique? I bought it on the grey market but it was purchased from a boutique in October of 2012.Could this affect the water proof seal? Thank you.
Interchangeability of omega parts
Digging around in my parts box I found two 2500b, one 1120, and a couple 2892 a2 movements.I know all are derivatives of the 2892, Do many parts interchange? Can i drop off the pile to an expert and get a couple working movements? Assuming the needed parts are functional.I'd rather reclaim a couple instead of parting out the lot.
5170p vs 5131p
Good morning watch enthusiasts,Which of the two watches do you personally prefer?
Supersize v Elegance
The new 5990.... when I first saw it I was delighted.............then I saw the video. While I admire the potential value of this piece to travellers, I cannot bring myself to come to terms with the bloated pushers and (formerly) hinge detail on the crown side. We see iterations of classic designs in all spheres of life and, usually, this comes with a increase in size. There comes, though, a point where the original concept and elegance has evolved into an entirely new product. The elegant 5711 morphed over time into the 5980 which, on its own merits, has become a most admired and classic piece. It retains the original DNA of the Nautilus. Somehow, I feel this has been abandoned with the advent of the 5990. There has always been some crossover between the Nautilus and Aquanaut with the 5164 filling an increasingly important niche in the market. Perhaps it is just the Modernist in me rebelling and I am willing to be convinced otherwise, but I am finding this release somewhat bemusing
