Seamaster Planet Ocean vs 300m Diver
Hi guys, thinking about my next purchase and really love the Seamaster line of watches. I am really edging towards the PO because I love the wrist presence and size of it - keeping in mind that I own a Panerai and am a HUGE fan of those. But my dilemma is that I would like something that could also be dressed up a bit in a formal setting. I know that the 300m will fit the bill, it is the James Bond watch after all ;) But wondering if it will be the same case regarding the planet ocean. Any and all input appreciated. Especially if you can make your point with pics :)
Fair Market Value for this vintage Seamaster DeVille?
I was browsing the auctions and came across what I think is a beautiful vintage Seamaster. I'm wondering if the Omega experts here can suggest a FMV on this watch. Of course I pay 15% Buyer's Premium + dreaded 13% sales tax on this. I'm going to do my homework now and see if I can get any price discovery on this watch through past sales. There should be 4 rows of 5 watches at this page. It's the bottom row, 2nd from left. Let me know if this link isn't working for some reason.toronto.empireauctions/au...keywords=watch
If You Were Me (5396r-012)
I am relatively new to this, so would like your advice. I bought a Patek 5396r-012 from a trusted seller here for what I felt was a good price. I love the face of the watch, love the numerals, enjoy the rose gold and leather look. Alas, it's a bit too small for me. I even had a chance to wear it at the store first, and felt it would work. But it doesn't really. I'm a big guy and this is a thin 38.5 diameter. I paid around $37k, which I felt was a good deal on this watch. Now, about a month later, I've inquired around for a trade, and the value is 20% less. I'd be down around $7k on it in 30 days, including from the seller I bought from. Obviously, I thought I'd be able get more of my money out of this watch if it didn't work. Nobody TOLD me that, I just thought. Again, I'm new to this, and I hope it's okay to post these numbers here as I don't often see prices being discussed like this. Can edit if necessary. What would you do in this situation? Keep it for a while? Try to sell it your
Sell my two Rolexes for a Nautilus?
So, I think the PP bug has bitten me. I just got the 5167a (as you my hv read my last post) and really enjoy it. Now, I'm thinking nautilus too, as the SS bracelet wold nicely complement the rubber on the 5167a. However, I feel that if I get the nautilus there would be too much aesthetic overlap with my Rolexes - white SS Daytona and GV. Essentially, the stainless bracelet, PCL, etc, all combine to create a very similar overall look. So, two part question:1) should I sell the Daytona and GV to fund a nautilus. I'd be left with my 5167a and a yellow dial Breitling SuperOcean (beater). Or, just save up for the nautilus. Or, maybe just relax a little and wait it out?2) if I proceed, which nautilus? Blue 5711 (because it's classic and hard-to-find); white 5711 (which I like, but worry about whether i'd like the white dial once a own the watch); blue 5712 (because it adds a complication at little incremental cost); black 5726 (because the annual calendar is cool, but incremental cost is hig
