Luminox Supports 30-Mile Dive To Highlight Endangered Sharks; Launches Limited Edition Watches
On September 17, undersea explorer and combat diver Scott Cassell completed a 30-mile dive from Catalina Island to San Pedro, California. Scott’s goals: to call attention to endangered shark species that are approaching the edge of extinction, and to set a world distance record for the longest uninterrupted dive. Find specs and prices for the new watches inside. The dive took place in the Catalina Channel where Cassell has been diving for years. According to Cassell, less than 20 years ago this area would have produced between 40 and 100 shark sightings in a single dive. On Saturday however, he encountered literally no sharks during his 11 hours underwater, despite using shark attractors during the entire dive. That result confirmed the tremendous decrease in the local shark population. Cassell was forced to give up his world record dreams when an equipment malfunction caused him to black out underwater, forcing him to the surface at the 5 hour mark. Though the record was lost,
Breaking News: Steel Patek 5016 At Only Watch Sells For 7.3M CHF, Becomes The Highest Priced Wristwa
If you’ve been following HODINKEE lately, you probably know that this is a big weekend in the watch auction world. And the watch that has probably attracted the most attention is Patek Philippe’s contribution for Only Watch, a piece unique 5016 in steel. Why? Because, as Jack alludes to here, there has been a widespread consensus that if the right elements came together, this watch could become one of the highest priced wristwatches of all time. 1 OF 2 Patek Phillipe for Only Watch 2015 ADVERTISEMENT Well, the hammer just dropped on the Patek and we have the result. After back and forth bidding between two phone bidders for the last 2 Million CHF, the watch sold to a phone bidder in English (probably from the UK, based on the fact that Paul Maudsley was the Phillips employee taking the bid), and the final price was 7,300,000 Swiss Francs (CHF), which makes it the #1 wristwatch of all time! A very strong result that shows
Omega Aqua Terra Annual Calendar Question
So I've been in the market for an AT Annual Calendar for a while and on my recent trip to NYC I stopped into the Omega boutique to decide on the dial and so forth. Turns out they have the skyfall blue dial just released and get this they actually LOWERED the price from 9500 to 8400. Reason given was the month and date no longer have frames around them hence less labor. It's so strange to see lowered prices for popular models like this but then again 43mm is a rather large case to wear. I think Omega pulls it off beautifully unlike Rolex with their super size models. Which would you choose given the factors mentioned? The sales rep told me both have gold dial markings but the previous version had the gold frames as well. The movement should be the same I would think. It's either the skyfall blue or the older teak version. Thanks
AQUA TERRA MID SIZE - Correct Strap Size and Deployment Clasp?
Hi All, I have a AQUA TERRA MID SIZE CHRONOMETER 36.2mm (Model # 2504.30.00). I am looking to change out my steel bracelet to a leather strap and Omega Deployment Buckle. What is the correct size for each? Where is the best place to purchase a 'real' Omega Deployment Clasp?Thanks!MaxMax256
2018 Basel ....Pepsi GMT Jubilee SS (not Coke)
I know that the general consensus or at least the most talked about potential release this year is the Coke bezel GMT on a jubilee bracelet. However, I will put this out there that it will be a Pepsi GMT on jubilee bracelet (SS). My reasons are as follows:WG Pepsi GMT discontinued so keeping Pepsi GMT in the line up would be okNew Pepsi GMT will be on jubilee so it won't piss off current owners who bought WG on a oyster bracelet for $$$. Rolex will also make it so that owners can't just swap out a jubilee for oyster bracelet (using Sub or BLNR bracelet) because Rolex will alter the case dimensions slightly due to new movement. Therefore you won't be able to make you new Pepsi GMT look like a WG Pepsi GMT.Extend the life of the Pepsi bezel and recoup more R&D costs because it's only been out since 2014. Why stop Pepsi GMT after a few years. They can still sell boatloads of Pepsi because WG priced normal people out of the market. They can run with Pepsi GMT for another 5-6 years
