My First Grail Watch: Giles Ellis Of Schofield Watches
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch". In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. In today's entry, we're talking to the owner of Schofield Watch Company, Giles Ellis. In his reminiscing, he goes back, literally, to his beginnings of watch interest. His piece really goes to show that your first grail doesn't have to be something in the far reaches of haute horology - it just has to be something that you love.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Giles Ellis (GE): Giles Ellis, owner of Schofield Watch Company. RO with roman numerals
I saw somebody wearing what it looked like a Jumbo (thin) with black dial and roman numerals at 6 and 9,seemed really thin and pretty sure 39mmAnyone seen it? What is it?Just wondering.
Finally got the Daytona C call but wrong dial colour ! Advice needed !!
Hi everyone ! I texted, called and emailed my Rolex salesperson the morning of March 16,2016 right after Rolex announced the Daytona C. The white dial is the one I really wanted and I told my salesperson that. It made my heart skip a beat when I first saw it on Rolex's Instagram that morning !! I was on the list for the prior model white dial 12 years ago and my name came up a couple of years later but the timing was not right as we just had a baby and bought a new house at the time so had to let that one go. So I have been wanting a SS white dial for around 12 years now ! When the new model was announced I knew it was time ! Fast forward to 2016/2017 again.... Several texts and calls over the following months and no Daytona even though I was one of the first to contact the store. I kind of made contact again last summer and still no call. Salesperson was trying but none were available to her to sell ! I went in last week and had a personal one on one conversation
Decided to brush the PCL's on BLNR (pics inside)
And couldn't be happier with the results. Opinions are divided on PCL's, but I'm much more of a fan of the brushed look. It cost just $50 from a professional, so well worth the money to me. It would certainly lower the resale value, but I don't plan on ever parting with this one.Just thought I'd post a few pictures if anyone is considering doing the same thing.
