F.P. Journe Young Talent Competition Brings International Watchmaking Students To Baselworld
Last week, the Acadmie Horlogere des Crateurs Indpendants (AHCI) announced the winners of the 2016 F.P. Journe Young Talent Competition. Three students of watchmaking, all based outside of Switzerland, were invited to join the ACHI in Basel to witness the world's largest watch fair. 1 OF 6 From left to right: Tristan Ledard, Anna-Rose Kirk, Fran?ois-Paul Journe, and Anton Sukhanov. Anton Sukhanov from Russia, Anna-Rose Kirk from the UK, and Tristan Ledard, from France, were each presented with a CHF 3,000 check from Horotec for the skill and technique displayed in recent watchmaking and clockmaking projects entered into the Young Talent Competition. Independents watchmakers from the AHCI, including Philippe Dufour, Kari Voutilainen, and Vianney Halter, joined them in small ceremony, held inside the Congress Center, a stone's throw away from the mayhem of Baselworld. 2 OF 6 Anton Sukhanov's entry this year was a table clock with a triple-axis tourbi
FAIL: Omega Speedmaster watch is at home at the depths of the ocean or in the office
Omega Speedmaster watch is at home at the depths of the ocean or in the officegood luck diving with that watch!
Broad Arrow...
My only watch is a 16610 Submariner Date and lately I've been trying to figure out what my next watch would be.I wanted a watch with GMT function but I never got into the old GMT-Master II for some reason, then I saw the new GMT-Master II C online and fell in love with it. Over time though it started looking a bit too busy to me, the maxi dial, and the polished center links, and the large font on the bezel... a bit much. Now I'm not sure I'd want a GMT-Master II.I've also been wanting a chronograph watch but the Daytona isn't really an option (not that I can afford or find one here anyway) but I also don't like the fact that it doesn't have the date.So... Logically I turned to Omega They're great and good-looking watches and many of them combine all these functions. I tried out the Planet Ocean but it was way too big and heavy for me.I checked out the Speedmaster and I like it a lot, but I can't really make up my mind on which one I want. The Speedmaster Day-Date and the Speedmaster Dat
Has anyone bought the 5227 yet?
I was admiring the beauty of 5227 on Youtube and was wondering if anyone here has one.I have the 5127, which I purchased new before the 5227 came out.I was heartbroken when I saw the 5227's officer caseback but was relieved when I saw the shocking price tag on the white gold 5227: $37500!!!!!!!For that price, you could probably buy a dress watch from Lange AND buy sport watches one from AP one from Rolex!!But that officer's caseback is really to die for.
Hold Over Watch
So I sold my sub to fund some business purchase stuff, right now I'm wearing my square casio but am thinking I need a hold over watch for around 2K, thoughts? Next watch will be green face, white gold DD, the anniversary and will most likely be my only watch. I am self employed and no one ever notices nor do I care so the purchase is just for me. Wondering if there are some models I haven't thought about?Put this in Rolex sub forum because I was thinking maybe tudorsteve
