As a multiple Rolex owner, I am aware that certain Rolex models are very difficult to obtain. If I want to buy a Royal Oak from an AD with whom I have a good relationship, are they readily available?

A DSSD is far more resilient to physical intrusion than say a DD or Cellini. However, the security of even the DSSD will only discourage the most rookie or lazy of villains. A hammer will easily give you access. The down side of this brute entry is (although you will get access to the inter workings and messaging of the watch) one cannot modif
