What would you do ?
So here we go again. Got the call from my favorite AP AD today letting me know that he's got the two pieces that make AP great. The EOT and the RO Skeleton in rose gold. He is willing to sell me the EOT at his cost of $54960 and the RG skeleton for 42K. I know the EOT is the kinda watch that defines AP but I've always lusted after the skeleton since I sold mine in all steel. Another caveat if I buy the EOT which will be personilized to my city of choice, I get a week long vacation to the Jura valley with a visit to the AP manufacture and museum. Not a bad deal. So I have no idea what to do. Please help with your advise and expertise. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 4
Omega FIFA chrono - restore options
Just invested in what i understand is a Speedmaster FIFA chrono case ref 11003. Chuck's site has some info and I see they are quite rare. I want to get it serviced ( cal 1045 ). Can anyone recommend a good watch repairer. The watch will also need a crystal and a general spruce up - dial clean, case regrain, case back refinish etc... Will any specialist be able to get a new crystal or will I need to go to STS?
The Patek 5004 Titanium Pice Unique

Cracked dial
I recently purchased a pre-owned PAM 051 from a well-established pre-owned dealer. The dealer offers its own 1-year warranty, and also has its own in-house watchmaker. I have had the watch less than two weeks, and have only worn it three times since receiving it. The third time I wore it, I noticed an imperfection on the dial that only shows up when the light hits it a certain way. In many lighting situations, it is fairly unnoticeable, which is why I did not see it right away. However, it is also the kind of blemish that, once you know it's there, you see it every time you look at the watch. Under a loupe, I can see the imperfection is actually a hairline crack in the dial, resulting in a slight upward buckling of the dial surface in that area. The crack starts at a lume dot, and runs straight through several minute hash marks. My loupe has a measuring square, and I have measured the crack to be approximately 4mm in length. The dial itself is only 34mm in diameter (the case
Untouched (but looks crap) vs. Proper Refinish (but original proportions)
Want to hear your thoughts on the following, for your 60's-70s Vintage Rolex what condition would you want it in.a.) Untouched, but all scratched up looks like crap> This option is true to its originality but is banged up full of character but looks really beat up.b.) Looks like NOS but refinished professionally by LA Watchworks for example> This option is polished but restored / touched to original proportions and bevels. Looks brand new and all the bevels and chamfers are exactly proportional to if it was new.
