Bring a Loupe: A Spectacular Submariner, A Large Breitling Top Time, A Very Complete Memovox, An Unusual Omega Ranchero, And More
This week, Bring A Loupe focuses on a perennial favorite: vintage Omegas, from an intriguing Railmaster to an exotic Speedmaster. We will also examine one of the very first Rolex Submariners with crown guards, a reference 5513 with a flawless gilt dial. And to round things out, we have a couple of chronographs from Breitling and Universal Geneve, each with their own interesting quirks. This is your Bring A Loupe for January 8, 2016. An Early Rolex Submariner Reference 5513, A Stunning Vintage Sub With Glossy Gilt Dial 1 OF 12 This dial instantly tells you one thing: you are not looking at your average Submariner. This vintage Sub exhibits exactly what we love: a deep glossy dial and a fat case. The dial is marvelous, with a lacquer finish characteristic of the early 5513s. Until 1966, the reference 5513 boasted a glossy dial with gilt lettering ("gilt" referring to the golden color). Only after 1966 would the Submariners have the matte dials we described

I just read this and got a real kick out of it...Your mileage may vary.Photos are in the original version/link here...ialreadyhaveawatch/2009/0...al-wind-watch/The Definitive if Unnecessary Guide: How to Wind an Omega Speedmaster Professional (Or Any Manual Wind Watch)Omega Speedmaster Professional 145.012, 1967. Or any manual wind watch for that matter? This question occurs with astonishing and cyclically recurring frequency in internet watch forums. And this is even despite that most every forum offers a search function that could produce dozens of relevant threads that would dispatch the question neatly before it were even raised (again). The recurrence of questions like this is among the reasons forums ceased to be as much fun and I've mostly retreated from watch fora, especially after once seeing threads posing this sam

Opinions on going from 3 to 2
TRF...I bought a 3 watch set that includes a TTSub Blue, SD43, and YM2 SS...I’m really digging my SD43 as my daily wearer and surprisingly get tons of compliments on it.I really want a PM Rolex but I will not shell out more cash until I can buy one cash with ease. The Sky Dweller Gold on Gold is speaking to me. I love it’s many functions. Since the other two aren’t getting as much wrist time I’m thinking of selling them and getting the 18K Skydwelled...So I’d have my daily wearer in the SD43 and my big timer semi-daily/special event PM watch in the other.Thoughts?
