Hands-On: With The Tissot Seastar 1000 Automatic Professional Chronograph Valjoux
Tissot has always made some nice looking watches.? The problem is, the majority of them are quartz-based, and no matter how good looking a watch is, we (collective "we," nay, royal "we") just can't take a watch seriously if it's got a battery (unless, of course, it looks like this, this, or this).?So when Tissot showed us their new Seastar 1000 Automatic Chronograph, we said, "Ok, this will do."? Granted, it's enormous (49mm) but some people are into that.? The Seastar 1000 is a certified diver, and it uses a Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph.? It is rated 30 bars, or 990 feet and will be limited to 1000 pieces at a price of $2250. But that isn't the full story. 1 OF 2 Sure, it's large and a little "TSOVET" ish, but the construction details on this piece are worth noting.? It uses screw down pushers, and the bezel's minute markers are raised, not just simply painted on like one might expect to see with a watch like this.? Strangest Conversation WithLocal AD
I recently acquired an H series ROO Diver. When I went to attach an OEM bracelet, I noticed that the prior owner was less than meticulous about turning the case screws holding in the plots. I called the local AD and asked about the buying new screws. The answer baffled me. I would have to drop off the watch and wait about 4 weeks for a quote. If the quote was accepted, the watch would be sent to the AP service center for a least several more months. For four screws? Even the technician was chuckling about this. I guess that I forgot how long it took me to get my last RO Chrono serviced for a poorly resetting indicator. That took the better part of 5 months. AD shenanigans aside, I love the watch. I guess that I'm spoiled by the local Rolex Service Centre here in Toronto.

Spare Links on a New GMT 2 Question
HiPurchased a BLNR from an AD remotely but was still too small for me.Anyway after sizing I received 2 spare links. Couldn't help thinking at the time that I wouldn't have wanted to have larger wrists. I just saw a watch on the sales section here (with three spare links) and counted up the links seems I was left short, how many links in total incl spares make up the full bracelet.Thanks,Ck.
