Swatch "Superlot" Achieves US $6 Million At Sotheby's Hong Kong
A collection that took more than 25 years to amass, and consisted of more than 5,800 Swatch & Art pieces sold on Tuesday for USD $6 Million. The winning bidder was a European institution, claiming the win after over 30 bids with two other opponents in the action. 1 OF 2 Swatch has been making Swatch & Art models since 1983 as collectible watches inspired by pop culture. Artists, musicians and fashion designers have contributed designs over the decades. An example is the model above, designed by artist Markus Linnenbrink whose work can be found in museums all around the world - in addition to people's wrists, thanks to Swatch. Dream achieved - Complicated Patek Philippe in Gold
Hello All,Thank you so much for the kind words and advice.After much thought and consideration I have purchased my new watch (new to me that is as it came from a vintage watch dealer).It is the fantastic Patek Philippe 5035 in Yellow Gold.I just could not pass up an Annual Calendar for a first Patek. I am so proud to have a complicated piece on my wrist.I also love the 24 hour display and the Romans sealed the deal.The watch was built around the 315 movement - not just a conversion to fashion like the 5146 which is simply a 5036 with added size (for no good reason that I can see). 37mm for a conservative dress watch is a great size!If I wanted a huge watch I would have bought an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Off-shore!I think the term traditional size fits the 37mm size. Infact the current model 5140 Perpetual Calendar is around this size also.I have seen articles on the net stating the 5035 has great investment potential. Rolex Sea Dweller
Gents,Recently bought a 16600 SD and it is awesome! I pulled the crown out today to set the date and time after not wearing it for a week and the time setting to the last position of the crown only clicks. The hands will not move. Almost like the bezel is rotating sound. Any thoughts on what this is and how to get er fixed? Thanks Gents

Is a Datejust 41, blue face, fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet a bit too flashy for everyday casual wear?At bit of context... I'm 46 in a professional, but casual, setting. No one around has any watch game. I'm typically in a polo with a sweater vest. I'm wanting to venture into that Rolex but don't want it to stick out too much. Plan on the watch being an heirloom that I can pass down to my son but would be an everyday wear. I've heard that fluted and jubilee don't show scratches as much as the smooth on oyster. How much is that a factor?I keep vacillating between smooth bezel on oyster and fluted bezel on jubilee. I'm not much on the Rolex options with numbers on the bezel like the Sea Dweller or Sub-Mariner.I'd love the collective wisdom of TRF.
