IWC Wins Reader Voted Best Luxury Watch Brand On Luxist
I recently nominated a few key luxury watch brands for a reader poll on Luxistwatches-dealer. The poll was to determine what brand people considered to be the top luxury brand. Not exactly a scientific study, but it is interested to see what people who read the world's top luxury blog had to say on the topic. It wasn't too difficult to consider the nominees. It wasn't a matter of who necessary made the best looking or most mechanically perfect watches, but rather about perception. As such, I made the obvious choices. The five nominees where Rolex, Patek Philippe, A. Lange & Sohne, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and IWC. Four Swiss and one German high end brand. Prices really all over the place, but brands that many, many people would know. Each brand has plenty of offerings over $20,000 and each brand has at least a good portion of their watches with in-house made movements. More importantly, there is a good chance that you can walk into a yacht club with logos of the brands and people would rec

In-Depth: Twelve Of The Greatest Missing Watches, Including Paul Newman's Paul Newman, John Lenn
The intersection of politics and popular culture with wristwatches is undeniably fascinating. I mean, that's basically why I have a job. Equally fascinating is the pursuit of these timepieces at the center of this interesection by watch collectors, dealers, and auction houses. There are a handful of documented important wrist and pocket watches out there that the world at large is still looking for. What I mean by that is they have not been publicly sold or located, like say Eric Clapton's platinum 2499, Gandhi's Zenith pocket watch, or Steve McQueen's 5512 Submariner (we won't get into his seemingly never ending supply of Monacos), though we know they exist via a blurry old 35mm photograph, or word of mouth. This is a short list of twelve watches that we know to exist, have serious interest in, but have seemingly gone missing. Help with next purchase, RO ROC ROO
I need your advice for my next purchase So my watches for now are the 116610LV and the AP Diver, and planning on getting an AP nextMy options are the RO 15400 blue dial, or ROC blue dial, or I might be able to get the Milano boutique edition but I will miss the bracelet on that one. If I get one of these I might be able to get the Rolex GMTII BLNR as well. Or maybe the 44mm ceramic with the anthracite dial but I won't be able to get the BLNR if I do this, I may also have to sell my subI really love the ROC but the movement not being in house and not an exhibition case back is bothering me a bit, and the 15400 is gorgeous but it looks a bit small on my wrist as it is slightly thinner than the ROC and lacks the extra pushers, the 44mm is amazing in every way but giving my current collection and what I would have to let go to get it, this is a hard choice! What would you do if you were me? And so sorry for the long read
Finally
it took me a while but finally got the one I wanted. got my first ROO 4 yrs ago and after saving enough bought this beauty yesterday. I was deciding between the Alinghi and the Grand Prix carbon. the GP was more money so I pulled the trigger on this one. thank you GOD.
