Photo:Chuck Maddox/ChronoMaddoxWind it until it stops. Don't make it more complicated than it needs to be.So how exactly ought one wind one's Omega Speedmaster? Or any manual wind watch for that matter? This question occurs with astonishing and cyclically recurring frequency in internet watch forums. And this is even despite that most every forum offers a search function that could produce dozens of relevant threads that would dispatch the question neatly before it were even raised (again). The recurrence of questions like this is among the reasons forums ceased to be as much fun and I've mostly retreated from watch fora, especially after once seeing threads posing this sam

40 year old life reflection
In a few short months I will be 40 years old and it may me realize how short life really is. I decided to get myself a 5970r. I remember just a short 15 years ago I graduated school with no money and $200,000 in student loan debt. Just 7 ears ago I purchased my first very nice watch a Zenith Chronomaster GT for 6K and I had a nervous breakdown and anxiety for several weeks. Over the years I purchased ands sold many watches until I realized it was Patek was my real love. Interestingly this purchase did not cause me any anxiety or even excitement it just felt right. I remember I was in lover the 5970r the first time I saw it years ago and I remember thinking what kind of person would spend that much money on a watch? This year I visited the Patek Museum and the really got to appreciate the perpetual chronograph and decided that I should have the watch I always wanted. How much longer will I really be on this earth. I hope my purchase inspires you to purchase the watch you always wanted.
Similar size/comfort/form factor to a Submariner?
I think I am going to stop fighting it. My 16610 is my favorite watch. After losing too much money flipping while buying/selling watches to add diversity, such as chronographs or dress watches, I think I am going to just stick to adding interesting watches that are pretty similar to my Sub. I'm talking size, comfort, and even the overall look/aesthetic (although it doesnt' necessarily have to be a diver). So outside of the obvious (another Sub), what would be some good candidates? Within the Rolex family I'm guessing it has to be either GMT or Explorer II, correct? Maybe even the Explorer I or OP 39?And any outside Rolex? The Tudor BB 58 seems close in this regard.
