I love the Rolex Explorer I.? It's the little brother in the Rolex sports watch family, it was my first Rolex, and regularly it gets left out of the all the mega-Rolex hoopla that we so often see at auctions with rare versions of Daytonas, Subs, and GMT's bringing in big bucks.? So, when we opened up the Christie's Geneva May catalog and saw the watch here, we knew we had to cover it.? It is a seriously rare watch, and it happens to be an Explorer I.Dating to 1958, this is a reference 6610, the predecessor to the commonly seen 1016.? The case is in fantastic shape with nice thick lugs, and everything on this guy is original...including its WHITE dial.? Yes, white.? I kind of like the 5170P...but diamond hour markers and a shiny band?? Seems too fem for what could have been a killer.As for rolex the cellini with the moon is kind of cool but not enough to get me buying.I had my hopes set very high for a 5270p or new variant of such.I can't believe it...I really think this will be my first basel in ages where I don't order anything.I'm kind of at a loss...I feel like something is dying inside...uggggggI'll track down a new panerai bronzo I guess...meh

I only have one concern about the SS skydweller.....
After finally getting to spend some time with the white dial (which I did not buy), i just have one slight concern- Is it a little too dressy? I do wear dress clothes 5 days a week so not a huge deal but the watch did seem pretty busy esp with the fluted bezel. I'm struggling seeing this watch on my wrist while doing a Saturday morning car wash. Would love your thoughts....thx boys!! Btw-I'm waiting for the blue
