Breaking the Mold: 5 Offbeat Watches from Baselworld
Contrary to popular belief, Baselworld is not just a steady stream of tourbillons, chronographs, and watches that are mostly black. The show does play host to some individualists who create watches that are outside the mainstream. Some are newcomers, and some return year after year, reliably delighting us with their unique vision. We take a look at a few of their creations. One of our favorite newcomers this year is Breva. The brand's watch is the Gnie 01, a stylish and original mechanical mini-weather station for the wrist.Breva was founded by a young entrepreneur named Vincent Dupontreu. Born near Paris in 1977, at age 11 he was selling bracelets at the beach, and at 13, skateboard ramps. At 22, he launched an eponymous fashion brand which he sold seven years later. After he earned an MBA in Switzerland and ran an art gallery, his desire to own a unique timepiece, and his inability to find just the right one, led him to launch his own watch brand. New Logo Takes aBlogtoRead.com In The Right Direction
You have no doubt recognized the new aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer logo which is proudly displayed. The result of much effort and a joint collaboration with a professional designer; I am proud to have a great looking logo. Designing a logo is very tough work. There are endless directions to go in, and even the most skilled designer needs some input. Sometimes, it is the result of mere luck that a quality logo come about. The logo you see is a result of many things, mainly the idea to remain simple while emphasize the theme of the blog, which is watches. I particularly enjoy the way the "o" and "g" in "blog" are watch gears, and how watch hands comprise the connection between the "e" and "a" in "read." A lover of graphics and clever design, I am particularly happy the designer was able to work with me in visualizing this idea as nicely as you see.I hope that you each like the new logo. In the coming months, you will ideally see a completely new shape and form to aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer.
Incoming ......... first in 2014
Just acquired this new model of 2014. It is a very eye catching Navy. I was debating between the Black and this Navy while I was at my local AD yesterday. My eye was caught when this Navy first came out in SIHH 2014 and by chance, I bumped with this beauty. I was told that the new models won't be available until June this year. The Black also has a very sharp match between black and red. The hornback strap with red stitch is also very nice. The Navy has a very beautiful royal-blue dial contrasting with orange hands. The blue rubber strap matches perfectly with the dial. The strap with the tang buckle is also very comfortable to wear. The rubber material seems softer than that of my Diver, hence even better. The difference in price tag between the Black and the Navy is just USD380, therefore, whichever one I go for, there is no significant concern. At the end, the Navy wins over the Black because the Navy is the first one that caught my eyes when it was released and I have some black

Will they let me know the price over the phone? Do I need to actually visit a shop to find out the price? Any comments will help. Thank you!
