Introducing: The Gr?nefeld 1941 Remontoire, Inspired By A Church Clock In The Gr?nefeld Family's Care For Two Generations
The Grönefeld Brothers hail from the town of Oldenzaal, in the Netherlands, close to the border with Germany; they're third-generation watchmakers who, after training and considerable professional experience in Switzerland, began making their own watches, under their own name, in 2008. Their first watch was a complicated minute repeater with tourbillon, but they're probably best known for their One Hertz wristwatch with deadbeat seconds, which was a big hit for the brothers in 2011. (HODINKEE covered the One Hertz when it was announced at Baselworld.) As alumni of Audemars Piguet Renaud et Papi, Tim and Bart have had exposure to some of the most complicated watches, and technically demanding projects, in modern horology, and their newest watch incorporates a pretty rarefied complication: the remontoire d'egalité. 1 OF 9 The remontoire d'egalité is, as you may have read in some of our previous coverage of the complication, one of h
Swiss National Bank Promises "Unlimited Currency Purchases" To Weaken Franc, Swatch Group
We've talked about the strength of the Swiss Franc and its impact on the watch industry probably more than most of you cared to read. But, today, the Swiss National Bank took a dramatic step towards weakening the CHF when it announced unlimited currency purchases.?The biggest beneficiary of all this? You guessed it, the largest exporter of watches in Switzerland, the Swatch Group.? News of the decision sparked the company's shares to jump immediately, and although the price setlled off a little bit, this is great news for the watch industry (and us trying to purchase things from it).For more details on this, check out Bloomberg's detailed article.PS - Hey watch companies who have raised their US prices three times this year, think we can get one of those back?(Chart via BI)
One and Only - 26320 SS - Black or Silver Dial?
Hello!New to AP. I have been a purely Rolex guy for the past few years and have come to realize I really don't love that much in the collection on my wrist. Love my 114060 but that's about it.I have been thinking about getting a SS 26320 as my only watch. If it is my only watch would you recommend black or silver dial?I go back and forth on this a lot and like both. Generally I would think go black as it is more versatile, however the silver and the brushed finish make the watch versatile as well.Would love some thoughts (and pictures) to help me decide!
Stem Length
I have an Omega 2512.30 that needed a new crown and stem. I ordered from Otto Frei and the stem is not cut to the correct length. Any one know what the length of the stem should be, the old stem no longer exists. Other times I have gotten replacement stems they were the correct length. Anyone ever cut down a stem to fit and can tell me how to measure for the correct length. Thanks in advance for any help.ThanksJohn
Pics of WG 5119 or 5120 on BROWN strap?
I really like 5119 and 5120 Callatravas but I rarely wear black belts/shoes. I think a white gold watch would be most versatile for me, but can't find any pics of these in white gold with a brown strap and I'm really wondering how they'd look.Any pics?
