Crowdfunding Follow-Up
Over the past few months we here at worn&wound have featured a number of watch brand hopefuls who were using some form of crowdfunding in an effort to get themselves off the ground. This format for funding a project has exploded in the past couple of years and it is a great fit for watches projects. They target the audience that wants the product and if there is enough response, it gets made. Hopefully. Time to look back and see how the projects we have featured here have faired.Rossling & Co. – KickstarterThe idea behind Rossling & Co. was that of a simple, slim dress watch with an affordable price and a versatile design. The project was looking for a reasonable pledge range from $119 to $139 which would provide the contributor with one watch and strap. The company’s funding goal was $19,200 and they were able to successfully blow that number out of the water with an ending total of $170,002 from 1,280 backers. Definitely a job well done. TSA commented on my watch
I travel pretty frequently for work (12-18 times a year) and use to travel every other week for a few years and have never run into a TSA person who said anything about a watch before. Last night traveling back from Seattle, the guy at the scanner said Nice watch. Can I ask what it is? I was taken by surprise by it but loved it. He was wearing a Quartz Seiko chronograph. I asked if he was into watches and he said he was but can't afford a nice one yet, but is saving in hopes of being able to buy one some day.I was wearing my Breitling Avenger Blackbird and must admit that out of my collection, I was surprised this is the one that got noticed in public. It's the least flashy of higher end watches, except maybe for the Omega SM300.
Anyone ever compare movements of a Speedmaster vs. IWC
As Omega aficionados, what are your opinions on IWC Flieger Chronos particularly model 3706?I have to say, the movement of the IWC is just amazing. The gold plating, polished surfaces and deep blue screws completely blows-away a Daytona 16520, & Omega Speedmaseter day/date. I know IWC is trying to get a stronger presence in the US. The IWC store is set to open in March. Now that Omega has its own in-house movement (semantics), will there always be a stigma with IWC because they start with an externally manufactured base movement?Does Omega see Rolex to be their only threat?
Just wanted to share
Two weeks ago I was married and my photographer snapped this pic. Just wanted to share with my fellow Patek fans
