A Conversation with Tom Anstead of Anstead Watches
A few weeks ago, we got the chance to chat with Tom Anstead, owner and designer of Anstead Watches. Anstead is a retired officer of the United States Navy. His naval career, as well as the watches available to him during his time in service, very much informed the design of the Anstead Oceanis.Anstead's first generation Oceanis debuted a couple of years ago, a product of one of the early Kickstarter watch campaigns. The second generation debuted in September. A Treat For A.P. Fans! Timecrafters watch show
went to the Timecrafters watch show this afternoon, some interesting moments especially from AP and ALS (more pics below for ALS) got to talk to watchmakers and enjoy seeing them tinker.in particular, i had a nice conversation with the AP watchmaker, he was exceptionally pleasant and genuine… a credit to the brandso most fascinating for me, some may remember i recently pointed out in another thread that i noticed a inconsistency between dials in the patisserie count on the Jumbo 40th, some have 8,9 or possibly 10 points from the center of the dial to the left edge of the date wheel. i asked APs watchmaker why the difference from one dial to the next… he explained that the Pantogragh (brilliant video if you haven't seen it, you must! .hodinkee/blog/2012/1/...royal-oak.html ) as it is mechanical needs to be dialed in for the correct depth, measured by the texture of the dust that comes off the dial, the dial will be adjusted by feel … the end result being, no two dials

My Moon Watch has arrived!
Thank you for all the valuable advice from the esteemed members of the Omega forum of TRF. I've been keeping my eye out for a 3570.50, and it was harder, than I thought, to find here in Hong Kong pre-owned.Today I stumbled into a vintage watch store and found a 3570.5000, complete with box, papers, and hangtag.It is in fantastic condition for a 12 year old watch that has not been serviced. There is a small ding on the bezel at 6 o'clock and the lume on the hour and minute hands are starting to fall off. I figure I would be servicing anyhow so the above wouldn't matter.Here's a picture of the newest addition to my collection:Would you take it to an official Omega Service Center or do you think an independent watchmaker would do? I would be looking to have the movement serviced, cleaned (lume bits are present), and water pressure tested.A BIG thank you to Fr. John for his knowledge and advice!Cheers,Eric
