Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends January 16, 2015
Many believe?that no watch collection is complete without a Rolex. Admittedly, there are brands which update their collections and models more frequently C which is perhaps not saying much C but the brand is steeped in history and their watches are built to very high and exacting standards. The problem, however, is: should you get a vintage one or a modern one? On one hand, vintage Rolex watches are arguably sexier; but on the other hand, modern Rolex watches are built with the latest in watchmaking technology and are extremely reliable. While perhaps there is no one?answer to this question, below we present you with?some opinions with regard to this conundrum. With 2014 over,?we take the opportunity to take a closer look at some cool?watches that were released last year. In the case of this round-up, these pieces are?Bulgari's amazing L'Ammiraglio Del Tempo Minute Repeater Detent Escapement watch and Tudor's extremely cool Heritage Black Bay Blue. Omega Warranty
I purchased an Omega Planet Ocean here on the forum a couple of years ago. The person I bought the watch from bought it from Jomashop. Last week the watch just stopped keeping time. I took the watch to my local Omega Dealer and the watch was mailed to Omega with a copy of the warranty card for service. I received a call from the Dealer today and they said that since I bought the watch second hand that the warranty does not transfer. The watch is a ceramic bezel and has not even been out for 4 years which is the length of the warranty. My question: Is it correct that the warranty does not transfer? Is the problem that the watch was purchased from Jomashop which is a grey market dealer? I'm a little frustrated that I'm now going to have a $650.00 bill to service a watch that is less than 4 years old. Thanks for any information.
Omega Museum's New Website
This new site is well worth a visit for any fan of Omega:nd just because every thread is better with pictures, here is one of my vintage Omegas.
Patek Philippe Turn-Around
I am starting this thread because yesterday, on the 28th of March 2011, I sent my Patek Philippe 5711G to Patek Philippe in Geneva for regulation. I will post again when it is returned. I thought it would be interesting to let others know how fast Patek Philippe turned around a relatively simple task on a relatively simple movement. Which is not to say they won't do considerably more work on the watch just to bring it up to their standards.
I'm done with Panerai
FinallyMy collection is complete (for now lol)After a few years into watches, I've noticed how much i have changed.Started with Rolex, then very quickly spread into other brands, omega, iwc, brietling, sinn, grand seiko..All your usual suspects. At one point it all just seem too much. I started to wonder if I am collecting just for the sake of collecting, and not buying what my heart truly desires. Having to switch between 10+ watches, winding / setting them (especially the more complicated pieces)-believe me it's a chore and definitely add more stress to daily life lol.So consolidate into 3-4 pieces then!!! like most people I looked into the big 3. VC was never my cup of tea, so it's out. Tried Patek aquanaut- yes a classic but just does not make a statement enough. It actually feel tinny when I handled it. Gorgeous movement nevertheless. Tried calatrava, nice but it's too dressy for a person who only wears shirt and suit once a year.So ended up with a 42mm white AP diver. Gee the watc
