TAG Heuer, Google, And Intel Partner To Launch New Smartwatch
Last year, after introducing a new in-house movement and investing CHF 40 million in a factory to support the production of that movement, TAG Heuer had a change of heart. Or, more specifically, TAG Heuer CEO (and LVMH Watch Division President) Jean-Claude Biver had a change of heart. The company shifted directions, presumably to cater to a broader market for lower-priced watches. It seems that mass-produced, in-house column-wheel chronograph movements were not part of that business strategy and so the release of the new movement was nixed, along with the Carrera CH80 and the manufacturing facility in Chevenez, Switzerland. Partnerships with quasi-celebrities like Cara Delevingne followed, and now – after Biver’s hints in various news reports – Tag Heuer has announced an ambitious new venture with two powerful companies in the tech industry. 1 OF 1 From a business-school-textbook perspective, this all makes logical sense. TAG Heuer has the brand rec
Historical Perspectives: The Very First Rolex Daytona, Explained (Or, What Is A Double-Swiss Underli
I tend to think that the best way to understand an icon of today - you know the types of watches I'm talking about, the Speedmasters, Submariners, and Royal Oaks of the world - is to take a look at the earliest iterations; the watches that left the factory first and set the overall tone for a particular model that would change wristwatches forever. So, just like I did for the AP Royal Oak "A-Series" here, I now present you with a detailed look at the earliest examples of the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. I'll tell you what to look for when examining early models and how to spot the only 50 year old Daytonas out there. I'll be honest, this was a really fun article to write and I think you'll love it. This is old school 'Dinkee goodness. The Very First Rolex Daytona 2 OF 28 To many collectors, Rolex chronographs are grouped into two categories - Daytonas and "others". And while Rolex has been making chronographs since the 193
One and Only - 26320 SS - Black or Silver Dial?
Hello!New to AP. I have been a purely Rolex guy for the past few years and have come to realize I really don't love that much in the collection on my wrist. Love my 114060 but that's about it.I have been thinking about getting a SS 26320 as my only watch. If it is my only watch would you recommend black or silver dial?I go back and forth on this a lot and like both. Generally I would think go black as it is more versatile, however the silver and the brushed finish make the watch versatile as well.Would love some thoughts (and pictures) to help me decide!
Introduced an AD to the Beast
I stopped by a local AD yesterday and let the owner fondle my PloProf. Although he carries Omega (also Breitling and Rolex), he had never seen the PloProf in the flesh. He called his sales people over for me to explain all the details and features. He even took the watch into the restroom and turned off the lights so that he could check out the bezel lume.He took it upon himself to admit that the PloProf was much more balanced and more comfortable on his wrist than the Deep Sea. I suspect he will have one in inventory soon.Fr. John†
Sea Dweller 43mm vs Explorer II long term value
This is the first thread I have ever started so please ignore any improper or silly questions. I am also very new to nice watches and really need the opinions and help of those much more knowledgeable and experienced than I am. I have enough saved to buy another watch and am having trouble deciding between the new SD 43mm or the Explorer II 42mm. I have all the technical and price difference so guess my question is simple. I would love to say I will keep this watch forever and pass it down to my son someday, however, I can't say that for sure. In your opinion, which of these watches will hold or increase in value the best in the next 5 or 10 years? Is one a better long term investment than the other. Thanks so much.
