In-Depth: Le Garde Temps C Naissance D'Une Montre, Greubel Forsey's Mission To Protect Traditional Watchmaking
What would happen if traditional watchmaking techniques died out? For Stephen Forsey and Robert Greubel, this thought was anathema. Their namesake company, Gruebel Forsey, relies on these very techniques to produce timepieces that have become lore among modern collectors. If these techniques die out, then their future, and the future of other high-end independents dies out too. So, to prolong these traditions, they joined forces with Philippe Dufour to create an incubator program for fully hand-crafted watchmaking called Naissance d’une Montre. One watchmaker was selected to be the recipient of what is arguably the finest collective of horological knowledge in existence, endowing him with the skills needed to create a watch, by hand, completely from scratch. 2 OF 6 Stephen Forsey, one half of the duo behind Greubel Forsey, describes the importance of safeguarding traditional watchmaking skills: Earlier this year, I had the chance to speak with Stephen Forsey a
5712 AD Discount?
I just put down my deposit and have my name on the next 5712 (SS Blue Dial) coming in at a local AD. Is is possible to negotiate a discount on this watch when it arrives as the Nautilus market has heated up as of late? This will be my first Patek. Thanks!
Need future Patek advice
Ok Patek owners, I need some advice. I am currently looking at purchasing a Patek next year as the crown jewel of my watch collection. I am trying to setup my collection so that I can have a nice timepiece for almost every occasion. My next purchase will be a bell and ross at the end of this year to go along with my omega as my most casual watch. The bell and ross I will probably wear with shorts and slippers, riding my motorcycle, etc. I live in Hawaii, so we dress down quite a bit. So getting a casual watch at the end of this year, Im starting to study up on Patek or AP as my best piece next year to complete my collection. I need some advice. I want to spend between 20 and 30k. I looked at a new aquanaut and nautilus and I really like them. I kind of want to buy new, but if you guys have good pre-owned stories then please share. Until recently, a timepiece like this would be completely out of reach for me. Thanks in advance.
