Baselworld Preview: Glashtte Original Pocket Watch No. 1
At Baselworld 2010, Glashtte Original will present their rose gold Pocket Watch No. 1 with quarter hour repetition in a limited edition of 25 pieces. A historical watch by Julius Assmann, a famous pioneer of the Glashtte watchmaking industry, served as the model. The repeater first strikes the previous hours, and then in a higher tone, the number of quarter hours that have elapsed since the last full hour. The repeater is operated by means of a slide located at 6 o’clock. Moving the slide toward 9 o’clock winds the mainspring. At full wind, the striking mechanism is activated automatically. The progress of the striking mechanism is regulated by a centrifugal governor visible on the wheel train side. The beating of the two hammers is made audible by means of two gongs of different lengths which pass around the piece beneath the wheel train. The new hand-wound caliber 84-01 is designed so that at the moment of winding the crown, the balance wheel is halted and the eccentric
Graff Diamonds Hallucination, The $55 Million Quartz Watch
At first glance, one could hardly spot anything really tentative about Graff Diamonds' first appearance at Baselworld earlier this year.?The booth, 503 square meters upon a single elevated space, was designed by Graff's Monaco-based interior design team in the likeness of a Graff Boutique. The booth was quite charming indeed, with walnut wall paneling and bronze feature showcases; however, it was the treasure within that triggered an almost dreamlike state. The sense of unreality was probably the result of one really expensive quartz watch -?the Graff Diamonds Hallucination, priced at fifty-five million dollars ($55 million), undoubtedly, the most valuable watch ever created. The incredible worth stems from 110 carats of really rare and really big colored diamonds?set into a bracelet of platinum.?Some of the rare diamond?colors are Fancy Vivid Yellow, Fancy Intense Pink, Fancy Intense Blue, Fancy Light Pink, Fancy Light Grey Blue, Fancy Intense Blue, Fancy Green and Fancy Orange. bit by the golden bug - what's next?
maybe it'll pass, but i've recently been recently coveting two different models in gold: RO 15450 YG, full bracelet in blue dial; daytona YG, full bracelet in either white or black dial.been trying to expand into other manufacturers, but these two keep calling on me. until i'm able to land on a PP5711/12/26, these two will have to tide me over.the drawer currently has the RO Jumbo blue dial, Explorer 1, and DD36 yellow gold full bracelet in silver dial.already have two rolexes...and even though the daytona is iconic, hesitant to add a 3rd.whilst the YG 15450 in blue dial is drop-dead gorgeous...the design is similar to the jumbo, possibly redundant.1st world problems, would love to hear opinions/thoughts.

I am currently writing this post at about 30k feet in the air. As I was leaving the airport to walk out to my plane with my father, I glanced at the clocks on the wall and realized that they are all AP royal oak clocks! They even had catalogues and everything there about AP. I didn't get a chance to snap pictures but I will when I go back there on Sunday. This was at signature private airport by Chicago. Has anyone else seen AP clocks places? Cheers! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I love White~Ploprof or NEW Exp II??
Well I missed the Great White but they came out with a Greater White Ploprof....the old Rolex Explorer II looker too small so they made it bigger and now I'm banging my head.I love white but don't know which to get, granted they are both different styles of watch. What do you think? With the discounts that I can get and taxes factored in the Ploprof will be about $75 more expensive.
