Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda 1950 Tourbillon Watch With Thinnest Automatic Flying Tourbillon Movement
Parmigiani Fleurier has the look of a classic brand. There is something honest about the typographic logo, the often restrained styling, and the simple use of case shape and material quality to set it apart from other brands at first glance. But this is not an old brand. 2016 will see the 20th anniversary of Parmigiani's foundation. So how has a brand gone from a standing start to the release of the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda 1950 Tourbillon watch C which just so happens to be the world's thinnest automatic flying tourbillon movement C in less than two decades?I think it has something to do with the high standards Michel Parmigiani, the founder of the brand, has set for his creations since day one. This was not a company that was happy to power its timepieces with off-the-shelf engines. The early years of Parmigiani are remembered for the production of in-house calibres, including the two eight-day mechanical and automatic?movements. Watch Shopping In Greenwich, Connecticut: A Visit To Manfredi Jewels
There are just a small handful of truly meaningful watch stores in the United States. This group of forward-thinking, daring, and creative jewelers are, in some cases, responsible for breeding the generation of watch buyers that kept the entire industry afloat during some of its hardest times, and built it into the period of development and innovation that we are currently enjoying. Roberto Chiappelloni's Manfredi Jewels in Greenwich, CT, is at the forefront of this group, and today, we take an inside look at this amazing bastion of watchmaking. 1 OF 61 Chiappelloni is a believer in the great American dream. He came to the United States from Italy as a young man of 24. He believed he would spend six months at NYU and then return to Italy, but opportunity knocked and he answered. He built a name for himself as an entrepreneur C not as a watch man, but actually a restauranteur. His success with his F
Long awaited Incoming!
After 5 years of dreaming about picking up a 15300 after first trying one on at Harrods in London, I've finally been able to muster the funds to pick up a Royal Oak.I was initially dismayed that the 15300 was discontinued in 2012, however having tried on the 15400 I was pleasantly surprised that it fit my flat 6.5 inch wrists well :)So here it is!
A Proud New Member of the Omega Family
Having lurked around the forums for a awhile, I am happy to say that I finally took the plunge and purchased my first real watch: the Omega Planet Ocean 8500 in 42mm. Like many others, I debated on which brand to go with Omega vs. Rolex. Beyond the technical comparisons, I went with Omega for one simple reason: 1. Rolex is just too obvious. Too cliche. I like the idea of owning an Omega because it implies that I actually know a little bit about watches beyond simply the price tag and name recognition. But any-who -- here are some pics!
