How I managed to purchase a 5711 from an AD in 2 weeks
Hi,I thought I’d share my experience of how I managed to purchase a 5711 last August from my AD, waiting only 2 weeks...I’ve been a customer of my local AD for nearly 15 years, from my mid 20’s. Back then I bought my first watch; a Panerai 104. I then went on to purchase a Rolex Milgauss. And later on I purchased a Jaeger Geophysic. So, whilst I bought a few mid level watches, I wasn’t a big spender by their standards. Nonetheless I took the decision on each occasion to only go there.Over the years I built up a good relationship with the same gentlemen who served me every time I went in. The truth was I wasn’t doing this over the years to be “smart”. A New Beginning After much thought and reflection, countless hours on this forum, reading and watching reviews, etc...AND having fun shopping at a couple ADs for Rolex, AP and PP,I have decided to cash in my All Rolex collection for something new, something fresh. Hi guys, for the purpose of the poll this is asking about the watches only. So if you can, please ignore any other aspects of the brand, eg pricing, servicing, QC, production volumes, the number of iterations of the 5270 etc. I'm saying Yes. I had a look at a brochure from 2006 as I needed a benchmark and I wanted to compare to an era when Philippe was still president. In my personal opinion over the last nearly 10 years, the current collection has become much more appealing. Some of my favourites we have now which did not have a direct equivalent from the 2006 brochure: 5711 (although released late 2006 it's not in the brochure), 5980, 5990, 5164, 5235, 5131, 5370, 5208, 5205, 5227. The tricky middle ground where we have similar watches then and now. My view on some of these masterpieces:5970 v 5270. My vote is the modern 5270, post Basel 2015. 5004 v 5204. I'm going modern again if for nothing else than the more contemporary size. 5070 v 5170. It has to be the classic 5070. Will this

Hi all,Considering making my first Rolex purchase after a couple years of Omegas. Can someone please clarify: is the LV definitively the only Rolex ever that has the glossy, white gold surrounds, maxi dial with the 5 ticks Swiss made? I'm sure with all the Rolex knowledge on this forum, this can be concluded. Thanks!
