Only Watch Auction 2013 Preview: 5 Unique Timepieces
The fifth edition of Only Watch, the charity timepiece auction held biannually in Monaco, takes place on September 28, and news and photos of several of the one-of-a-kind watches to be auctioned off have started to be released, including models from Breguet, Harry Winston, Girard-Perregaux, Laurent Ferrier, and Piaget.Held at Monaco’s Heritage Hotel under the patronage of HRH Prince Albert II, the Antiquorum-sponsored Only Watch auction raises funds for Duchenne muscular dystrophy research, using the proceeds from the sale of unique or first-in-a-series watches made by prestigious brands. Gronefeld One Hertz Dune Watch
This "One Hertz Dune" is an 18k red gold version of Gronefeld's One Hertz 1912 Dead-Beat Seconds watch. "Dune" is added to the name and I think the new color tones on the watch really give it a new personality. This isn't just a gold version of the One Hertz, but a different piece with a more sultry personality. Interestingly enough, this red gold version will be limited to 20 pieces, while the steel version was limited to just 12 pieces - usually the more precious the metal, the less pieces in the limited edition.Read more about the watch and movement here when I first discussed the Gronefeld One Hertz 1912 timepiece.
