Chuck Maddox and Wally Schirra
I'm sitting here listening to an interview Chuck Maddox had with Wally Schirra back in 2007.The interview is on a CD that someone at the ATL GTG will take home with him/her this afternoon. The CD was made by Chuck and given to a friend who donated it to the GTG. Truly a bit of history. Some of you may not have known Chuck but he was the Speedy Pro guru on the forums and my mentor (and fellow ham radio operator).
Favorite design features between the Seamaster & Planet Ocean
Seamaster vs. Planet Ocean? I have to admit my PO is getting more wrist time than my 5513. I love the history of the 5513, but the PO size and bracelet are more comfortable. I am in the market for my next diver, but which one? What are your favorite features of either Submariner or Planet Ocean?
Womble Watch Works- Atlanta
When my 5 month old Speedy Pro started acting up Fr. John suggested I send it to Womble Watch Works in Atlanta for service. I sent my watch in mid-April and last week was notified that the watch was ready to be returned. Rather than have them ship it, I went in to pick it up as I only live about 90 miles away.I was greeted by a very pleasant young lady. When I asked if I could speak with Mr. Womble about my Speedy Pro she said, sure. In just a minute Mr. Womble appreared, held out his hand and said please call me Ashley. I was with Fr. John and when Ashley saw John they struck up a quick catch up as they have been friends for a long time.I asked Ashley what exactly was wrong with my Speedmaster. He said for us to come into his office and he would explain the problem using his service manual. We went into his neatly arranged office/work area and he proceeded to show me exactly what was wrong with my watch. It turned out to be an adjustment rather than a major issue, he said. After that w
Whats the point?
Of Rolex making all of these cool sport model watches and then if you have cash in hand you can't find one. I stopped by my local AD last week the guy who's real nice btw told me he only sees a few come in of each model yearly. Such as Batman, hulk, Daytona's, deepblues etc. Really what's the point just to keep prices high?Or something else?I'm not a watch expert and I only own one Rolex so maybe for me the answer is not so obvious.
BARK finish on Rolex Day-Date
Remember when this was a thing?Imagine you are going to buy that old school looking watch and give it as a gift for your father. Now Imagine you're going to buy a newer, crisper watch, one that has not had the bark finish applied. Maybe even in white gold or rose gold.WHO DOES THIS BARK FINISH?Not who you think does it. Watchwerks does not. Michael Young does not.It would be a nice gift, I thank you!
