Her Time: 5 Ladies’ Watch Collections from 5 Luxury Brands
We’ve covered dozens of new watch releases from the watch fairs here at , as well as in our print edition. The vast majority of these have been targeted squarely at the male consumer. But in the past years several brands have also launched entirely new collections aimed at the ladies market, some with in-house movements, high jewelry, or both. Here are five of them.Cartier, which wowed the haute horlogerie aficionados at SIHH a while ago with its Heures Mystrieuses watch for men, also had a treat for haute joallerie fans, with the Les Heures Fabuleuses collection for ladies, a set of 41 jeweled timepieces (including 23 unique pieces), many with animal themes, that are designed to double as both watches and as something else pendant, brooch, tiara, pocketwatch, et cetera. They are still available at Cartier stores and surely make for an attractive gift. The Frog watch (limited to 40 pieces) combines gold, diamonds, sapphires, moonstones and emeralds to convey an image of a hangi
Concord C1 Radar Watch
I finally figured out who this watch is good for! The Scarecrow. On good days it can be the Wizard of Oz scarecrow, on bad days, the one from Batman. Why that character? Well the "technofabric" strap of the watch just seems to match the burlap sackmask that the scarecrow wears. Why is this lately iteration of the Concord C1 called the Radar? Your guess it as good as mine, but this is one of Concord's most noble attempts at making the C1 design work.See my full article on the Concord C1 Radar watch here at Haute Living. GMT IIC 126710BLRO vs 116710LN
I was curious to compare the differences between the case design of the new 126710BLRO vs the 116710LN.So I did some photoshopping to compare the two watches.Images are taken straight from Rolex and were not resized when I created the overlays. I would venture out and say that I can see how the BLRO lugs are a tiny bit narrower but that is really not much in my opinion.GMT COMP_Summary.pngSince I was at it, I also made a mockup of what I believe will become the 126710LN next year or the following. GMT COMP_3.pngWhat do you think?
Am I nuts for considering this? Sub to Exp 2
I currently own a Sub ND and it's an amazing daily wearer that works for any type of occasion. I also have a BLNR that wears very differently from the Sub but my dilemma is that both look very similar. Originally, I never considered the Explorer 2 42mm because I have a ~6.5 wrist and it looked huge when I tried it on. However, the polar version has been growing on me lately and I suspect it has to do with the fact that it has a white dial and looks like the polar opposite of the BLNR. I do want to try it on again but AD's have been short on supply lately.Did anyone go from a Sub to the Explorer 2 and not regret it? Would I be giving up too much just to add a different color to my collection? Curious to see what you guys think.
