F.P. Journe Releases Octa Perpetual Calendar
Independent watchmaker Francois-Paul Journe has added a ninth model to his eponymous brand’s Octa collection, called the F.P. Journe Quantime Perptuel, a perpetual calendar timepiece with an instantaneous jump function. The watch, which will be limited to 900 pieces, made its debut in Geneva during the SIHH and GTE watch fairs.A perpetual calendar (“quantime perptuel” in French) displays the exact date along with the day, month, and often the moon-phase by automatically taking into account the variable length of the months and leap-year cycle. Creating such a calendar is one of watchmaking’s most difficult feats, since its movement must have a mechanical memory of 1,461 days, or four years. The mechanism is usually based on a differential gear system from the hour wheel and includes several hundred components, cogs, gears, levers and rockers. A small toothed planet wheel connected to the month's mechanism makes a complete rotation in four years. During
Palace Of Westminster's Big Ben Clock On Your Wrist With A Dent Parliament Watch
English watches are becoming very vogue right now. For a while (though it was a long time ago), England was the place to be a watch maker. Even Rolex has British roots. You can see Pre-owned Rolex watches here. Then for a long time the English were OK with just buying watches, and not making them as much. And what a wonderful brand to bring back. Back in the mid 19th century, Dent was awarded the contract to build the clock at the top of the tower at the Palace of Westminster. The clock was later known as Big Ben, and is one of the most recognizable clocks on the pla

Speedmaster Professional strap wearers
I have a new Speedy Pro inbound, and wanted to ask you guys with straps if you prefer the standard clasp, or a deployant?Looking at all the pics posted in this forum, it's hard to tell what most of you guys are using. It appears that the deployant would be far easier to get the watch on and off, and cause less wear to the strap. However, I don't know if it is comfortable, secure, etc.Any help would be appreciated, ready to strap it on!Oh, and a HUGE thanks to Fr. John+ and his AD. Quite easily the most pleasurable and hassle-free watch purchase I have ever made.
