Rolex Sea-Dweller 4000 Ref. 116600 Watch 2014 Hands-On
Have you been waiting for a new Rolex Sea-Dweller? Among a series of new models, Rolex has announced a new version of their famed professional diving watch, the Rolex Sea-Dweller. Carrying the new reference 116600, the 2014 Rolex Sea-Dweller sticks very close to the look and feel of past iterations of this historic diver with very close ties to the Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600 which was discontinued in 2008. The Rolex Sea-Dweller was originally launched in 1967 as a response to the expanding world of saturation diving. Thanks to input from the US Navy (via the SEALAB II program) and French Comex divers, Rolex designed a watch that was capable of withstanding extreme pressure and expelling the helium gas that can seep into the case during a saturation dive.An excellent example of what people mean when they say "tool watch," the Rolex Sea-Dweller is is the stuff of dive watch legend, and Rolex didn't mess with the established formula for this updated version. Piaget Altiplano Skeleton Ultra-Thin Automatic Watch
For 2012 Piaget will release this very special watch that furthers their desire to be the thinnest around in a number or categories. Last year it was the Altiplano 43 Automatic that was the thinnest automatic watch with the thinnest automatic movement. This year (perhaps among other "record" things) Piaget will offer the thinnest skeletonized automatic watch around with this strikingly good looking Altiplano Skeleton Ultra-Thin timepiece. The Altiplano Skeleton Ultra-Thin is technically another "double record holder." That means it has the thinnest automatic skeletonized movement and the thinnest case for an automatic skeletonized watch. The Piaget in-house made Caliber 1200S is just 2.40mm thick while the entire case is just 5.34mm thick. This all makes for extremely wafer-like wrist wear.In a 38mm wide case the Piaget Altiplano Skeleton Ultra-Thin is yet another good-looking watch with black dauphine hands. The black & white gold look is very handsome. You see more of that for the
Blancpain X Fathoms Watch
Blancpain just released the new X Fathoms dive watch that it has been promoting for a while now. Launched in Dubai, the new super diver contains a mechanical depth gauge as well as a few interesting features. One of those is a retrograde five minute counter on the dial that is always running. This is meant to be used for measuring decompression times. No other diving watch in the world has ever looked like this.According to Blancpain the mechanical depth gauge (which can measure up to 90 meters of depth) is the most accurate one in the world. Other brands such as IWC and Jaeger-LeCoultre have watches with mechanical depth gauges. The gauge has two hands to indicate the current depth and a maximum depth reached during that dive hand. Blancpain says one of the major innovations involves the way the depth meter works. Water enters the hex grill on the back of the watch and interacts with a flexible metal membrane. Sounds interesting. Don't miss that the dial also has the time. In one of t
AP 15400 Bracelet Sizing
Has anybody here ran into really tough issues sizing their AP 15400? I got one screw out but getting the second is really tough. I tried blow dryer for a few mins until it got fairly hot but no dice.Think I may be on my to rounding the screw too. Any other suggestions? I read that maybe boiling water and then dipping the link in there could work? Would that damage the bracelet though?
