A New Respect For Quartz Movement Watches: From Spring To Battery
I think it's time for the hard-core mechanical watch enthusiast to give their distant cousin - quartz watches - a little more respect. I guess in my own way, I'm as guilty as the next guy, when it comes to comparing mechanical watches to quartz watches. When I was in the watch repair business, I flatly refused to take in quartz watches, and felt it below my standards as a watchmaker to change a battery in a quartz watch. I felt that quartz watches would make watchmakers obsolete, and in a way it actually did.In the 1970s and 1980s, the population of watchmakers, particularly in the USA, dropped off to endangered species numbers. If it had been 20 years later, you'd have college kids chaining themselves to Macy's Department store, demanding that we save the watchmakers. This snobbery carried into the 1990s, and the new breed of watch enthusiasts looked down their collective noses at quartz watches. It might also be a good moment to look at the watches-dealer list of the top 10 mos
I got the call!!!
After months of searching for the right ROC and then months of waiting after choosing it, I finally got the call that it's been overnighted!!! It's my first AP and I couldn't be more excited. The wait has been excruciating. Hopefully this isn't just a good dream, and hopefully come tomorrow I'll be unpacking it and posting some pics. Thanks for the input along the way on which ROC to go with.
My new planet ocean
I received my latest addition,to my watch addiction today.bought it from an Omega Ad,here in Illinois.really like the mesh bracelet, the clasp is so meaty.I'm thinking about buying a rubber strap, not sure which one,the divers,or deployment one.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363233176.270326.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1363233206.670070.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1363233221.670403.jpg

Incoming/Arrival - TravisB & Nishant made me do it.
I have been on this site since 2010 and although I don't post much, I have been fortunate enough to PM and converse with some great members like: JJ Irani who was the first one to welcome me himself to the forum, but I do keep up on the forum every week. I had a 305 back in 12/2012 but got buyers remorse because of the size and turned it back in. I was reading Travisb post awhile back about falling in love with the 305 again and it made me take another look at the 305. The other person who had an influence on my decision was Nishant, he always have great things to say about the 305 and the 389. I said all of that to say this, a great watch forum will inspire, inform and more importantly move people to act (buy). Keep up the great job guys, because you never know who might be reading your words and are pushed to make a purchase because of it.So I got bit by the bug and ordered a BNIB O series but when the watch arrived it was an BNIB P series talk about customer serviceThanks to Da
