Six Boutique Dive Watches: The Very Best
Right now, we're in a golden age for dive watches. Companies such as Giovino, Palladium and others have made it possible to start your own company with as few as 400 watches, and the Internet has enabled the global reach that lets a niche company flourish. There are many out there, but for this post I'd like to collect my current favorites, representing a range of styles and prices, and in no particular order.Ocean7 LM-1 PVD with PVD sapphire bezelWhy I like itThis one is kind of like buying a car - tons of options, both pre and post sale.Sapphire bezel. PVD case or cold-hardened steel. Optional chronometer-rated movement. Killer luminosity. Good bracelet. Great price ($1,322 maxed out). User-changeable bezels to mix up the look. Workhorse ETA 2824 movement. What's not to like?Things I dislikeYou can see some distortion from the curvature of the crystal, and I'd prefer just white hands instead of Plongeur style orange. New Temption Cameo Watch Finally Available
Last summer I told you about the new watch from Temption called the Cameo. It is their first square cased watch, and certainly unique. As is the case with most new watch announcements, the Cameo was announced long before actual release. Well, Temption has just announced that the Cameo is finally available. Actually, the watches are being shipped, but many are sold out until the beginning of 2009. For a company that makes fewer than 1000 watches a year, the demand for the Cameo watches must be overwhelming. Still, I don't doubt that Mr. Ulbrich, President of Temption is ensuring that each watch comes out perfectly.Temption is very proud of the process involved in attaching the sapphire crystal to the dial of the Cameo. As you can probably imagine, sapphire crystals are usually glued into place. This gives it a nice sealed look, but how strong is the bond? Hi all, I'm buying my first AP RO and I'm debating between 2 sizes. Here I attached some pictures. I would like to get feedback on which fit is better. I want to use it as both a dress watch and casual watch.It's not about the color, I know I want a stainless steel with black dial. This is just about the size. White dial is 15450, black dial is 15400. Thank you in advance!
