2014 Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair Is Coming Up Soon And We Will Be There
While it will be the first time for me to attend, 2014 marks the third year when watches-dealerwatches-dealer will be present at the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair. Held between the 3rd and 7th of September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, it is a massive?fair that hosts nearly 800 exhibitors?and a total of nearly twenty thousand?retailers, manufacturers, suppliers, and journalists each year in an effort to create an opportunity where just about any and all participants of the watch industry can acquire new connections and establish new business relationships. In this year's?pre-show article,?let's take a?brief look back at?what the previous years' events had to offer and also at what we expect to see this year, at the largest "timepiece event" in the world.Unlike other major shows like Baselworld or SIHH, the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair caters to several hundreds of companies which?are specialized in making products in extremely large quantities, striving to k
Help identifying Seamaster....
The seller is saying it is from 1950..new strap/buckle but movement is an original omega. The dial looks wrong to me though and I can't find an example on the interwebs. Anyone recognize it?
It's not new, it's not old, it's something in between
It's a Watchco SM300! Actually not Watchco proper, because I built it myself. I had a 565 calibre in a completely buggered Geneve; the movement was good, but the case and dial were beyond repair. So a quick order of parts and a trip to my watchmaker later, I have a shiny new SM300. Sure it is a franken, but I love it. It's gotten a lot of attention at work too (I work in the watch industry).
3-Watch Collection Strategy
I'm seeking your sage advise oh wise Rolex Forum. I want to build a 3-watch collection over the next 5-10 years. I have my first of the three with a Hulk Sub. For the remaining two watches, I'm shooting for a budget of 30k. I want to be deliberate. I love the whole SEAL-based strategy, but I'm not sure that really actually fills my first world needs. Speaking of, here are my desirements for a watch collection:1. The more formal situations. Mr. Hulk is fine, but I'd prefer something a bit more refined. I actually really love the new Everose Datejust 36, but I'm really naive in this genre. Any good affordable PP to consider?2. A GMT of some sort. I'm partial to Rolex and actually really like the new Root Beer. However, what else is out there that I should consider?I used to be in love with the Daytona, but I've sort of lost interest in the chrono type watches as these are complications I would probably never use. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
DJ41 10 months on....
Some DJ41 performance stuff folk might be interested in if considering purchasing one...I’ve had mine 10 months....1.Wear it for 6 hours per day and I get the full 70hours reserve..2. It keeps near perfect time....+/- 1 sd dependant how the watch is laid down at night.3. Only manually 20/30 winds once a month to keep the winder active, runs at its best just letting the movement do its own thing.4. Not really performance but don’t be too concerned about dings and sctratches they just kinda disappear after a while.5. Pretty robust and is capable of handling the riggers of wearing it out and about, not nesscesary to baby it and wrap it in cotton wool.Still love it as much as the day I got it....blue dial, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet...
