Blancpain Villeret Chronographe Monopoussoir Quantime Complet
Blancpain is creating some aesthetic pleasures with its reinterpretations of the Villeret collection, which started last year. At Baselworld, the manufacture from Le Brassus showed a single-pusher chronograph with complete calendar and moon phases. This complicated watch, available in two versions, features classic dials that are both highly attractive and highly legible. Find wallpaper and pricing inside. This model is equipped with Calibre 66CM8, a movement that provides optimal user friendliness. The complete calendar and moon phase mechanisms have been designed to avoid risk of damaging the movement during setting. The movement consists of 450 components, including 35 jewels, in a package measuring 32 x 7.5mm with a power reserve of 40 hours. The indications are adjusted by means of under-lug correctors, a patented Blancpain innovation allowing fast correction without any need for a pointed instrument. The hidden correctors and the co-axial monopusher to control the chronograph resu
Sotheby's To Re-Auction The Patek Philippe Supercomplication, The Most Expensive Pocket Watch Ever
When Sotheby's?sold the Patek Philippe Supercomplication in 1999, it became the most expensive watch ever sold, fetching a whopping??$11,002,500. Or did it? Actually, as Bloomberg revealed?in 2012?based on some court documents,?the winning buyer,?Qatari Royal Family member Sheikh Saud Bin Mohammed Bin Ali Al-Thani has never paid up for it C along with another $70 million worth of other?lots that he?purchased?at Sotheby's auctions. Consequently,?after?this exceptional, one of a kind timepiece has spent some 13 years with an owner who basically possessed it for free, the Patek Philippe?Supercomplication?finally returned to Sotheby's. Today, the auction house has announced that?this?incredibly complicated, two-faced pocket watch that?Patek originally made in 1933 for its astute collector Henry Graves Jr., will be up for auction once again in November, 2014 as the centerpiece of Sotheby's Geneva November 2014 Watch Sale. For over fifty years, from its conception in 1933 until 1989, the Pate
Yachting Timers & Watches
At worn&wound we've long been fascinated by watches that were designed specifically for individual sporting events. This is part of a series on these unique timepieces.Yacht timers C also referred to as regatta timers, yachting chronographs, or sailing watches C are watches specially designed and made for the countdown to the start of a sailing race. As you can imagine, starting a race on water, with entrants powered by the wind, is not as easy as lining up on a grid, Formula 1 style, or lined up like sprinters at a track meet, waiting for the starting gun. As we just saw in the recent America's Cup races in San Francisco, the yachts (we use the term loosely in the case of the America's Cup boats) are already at speed as they approach the starting line. The trick for the skipper is to NOT cross the starting line before the starting gun goes off. If they do, they're penalized quite heavily (how and how much depends on the rules in effect for the specific race).photo by Daniel HallSo
Trade in dilemma!!
I have a Lange zeitzone in platinum that is not getting any wrist time so I'm working on a deal to trade it in towards a PP 5235. Interestingly, the AD has 2 pre-owned in stock. One is complete with box and papers and the other 5235 does not come with the cert of the origin. The cash I need to come up on the one without the cert of origin is $12.5k and the one with the cert is $17.5k!!!!! What do you think? I do prefer to have the complete package but $5k for the cert of origin seems high.
Help me understand the 5130
So I've been interested in the 5130, because the complication is fascinating, and the dial is incredible. However, when I handled one today at a shop, I was disappointed with how it felt pressing the pusher at the 10 o'clock marker. It felt... squishy and not as crisp as I had imagined it to be. Is this normal or did I handle one that didn't feel as crisp as the norm?
