Jaeger-LeCoultre Climbers Scale Himalayan Peak
They made it! On October 28, the climbers reached the top. Stphane Schaffter, a Swiss alpinist, Lhakpa Tenzing Sherpa (known as Apa Sherpa) who has a record 19 Everest ascents under his belt, and Little Karim Balti, who has accompanied many sportsmen on expeditions above 8,000 meters, scaled the virgin peak, and as the first to the top, they named it Antoine LeCoultre's Peak. The mountain raises 6589 meters, or 21,617 feet above sea level. They were each wearing a Jaeger-LeCoultre timepiece: a 1958 Geophysic Chronometer, a Master Compressor Extreme Lab, and a new and as yet undisclosed extreme creation prepared by the Manufacture workshops in the Valle de Joux. Their watches performed admirably in the challenging conditions. You can read more about the expedition at the Jaeger-LeCoultre website. Here are some images from the expedition:

Where it all started...
Back in 1981, this Seiko was on my father's wrist daily. I remember gawking over the design and look. While at dinner a little while back, I noticed my father wearing it. I told him how much I liked the watch and showed him my AP. (He's not much of a watch guy, but I could see how he appreciated the AP). After I explained to my wife the history with that watch, my father took it off his wrist and gave it to me.Gonna give it a little tlc and enjoy it. It's got a permanent spot in my collection.

SD4K and SD43 50Th Anniversary Availability
Did a search in the classifieds on TRF!!!Was surprised to see more SD43 50Th listedfor sale than SD4K's... More than 60% listed on the Anniversary model versus the disco'edSD4K... Only a few SD4K's listed for resale... interesting Looks like the SD4K owners are more likely to hold on to it rather than flip... I must say since recently acquiring one myself I find myself admiring it more and more ... Anyone think the hype over the 50Th might be dwindling down?Prices don't reflect this at the moment but the availability on the grey market and resale quantity is certainly abundant... Anywho, just thought it was an interesting comparison to point out in relation to future prospecting and collectibility...What will the future hold for the Sea Dweller, thoughts ?Pics anyone??? We love pics on TRF!!! Here's my SD4K... let's see both 50Th Anniv and SD4K C ...For that matter let's even older SD's for comparison...
