"Hi, how's it going?""Just fine sir, care to view any fine Jaeger LeCoultre timepieces today?""Well, I don't know. What makes these.Jaeger LeCoultre watches.better than what I've got now?"(sigh) "Sirthese are what we call, 'real watches.' A a Jaeger LeCoultre watch represents an accomplishment combining elegance and discretion with a natural aura of serene confidence."(blank stare). "I don't.What exactly does that mean?""It doesn't matter what it means sir. Does the value of your watch impact how you wear it?
Simple question: does the current market value of your watch impact how you wear it?I'm no stranger to expensive watches and generally don't fret about how I wear my watches relative their cost. Most would cringe to see what I wear when fishing, boating, motorcycling, hunting, golfing, etc. However the recent (insane) valuation of steel Pateks has begun to influence how I wear them. I've found myself worrying about scratches and dings on my steel Pateks whereas it was never a consideration before. I have no such hangups with my PM watches - only steel. Brand has little bearing on it. Maybe I'm just not meant to own steel? Thoughts?
