Welcome back to an watches-dealer original series, where we discuss important stores that sell watches all over the world. Each store we profile has an interesting story to tell about where they operate and who they sell to. Whether you buy watches from brick and mortar retailers or prefer to buy watches online, these are the stores that help shape our watch culture around the globe. There is a long list of stores to cover, but if there is a retail location in your favorite city that we simply can't miss, let us know in the comments below.Where to buy watches in Chicago, Illinois? When you see the word "wind" do you think of moving air or what you do to your watches? Well, its both in the Windy City of Chicago which is home to Geneva Seal, a watch store which has served the mid-western metropolis since 2002. But the Geneva Seal story began over 35 years ago when this family business founded a diamond wholesale operation (they still have a diamond buying office in Chicago to this day).Or
Should I trade?...
I have a SS blue faced ROC that I use as my daily wearer, with shirt and tie office attire it really is the perfect discreet weekday watch. I have a President for special occasions and had thought about trading the ROC for a rose gold rubber clad making the ROO a weekend watch. I'm thinking of a 42mm Explorer 2 as a daily wearer however I can have this as a weekend watch also and keep the ROC as my office watch .Any suggestions, having all 4 simply isn't an option
Went to an Omega boutique today.
So I went to omega today to change my strap on my watch and the sales man that sold me my watch brought out some new watches for me to try on and he mention the the blue dial speedmaster 57 is hard to come by. Is that true? And I also snapped some photos and was wondering what do you guys think looks good on me.Attachment 450718image.jpgimage.jpg
Titanium Liquid Metal Planet Ocean now in
Hi. Just a news flash really for the Omega lovers and collectors on this forum. I had a call from the Old Bond Street Boutique in London today telling me the brand new Planet Ocean Chronograph in Titanium with Ceramic bezel and liquid metal numerials in blue is now in stock. This is way ahead of scheduled release even to the Boutiques as they were expecting it around Christmas. Mine going to have to wait longer now due to the 2012 Olympic Aqua Terra I puchased this week. I enclose photo of this beauty to Whett your appetites.
World timers - are they still useful?
I think the Patek world timers are great looking watches, with an artistic and well executed complication, but with countries changing their timezones it's becoming increasingly less useful.First it was Moscow, and today i read that Spain is considering moving its clocks back an hour to GMT. When you factor in the inconsitent observances of DST, I'm happy to report i'm no longer tempted...Curious how others feel. Does anyone buy these for their useful complication, or it is simply about the aesthetic?
