Orient Sparta Review
Ugh Here we go again. Sitting in front of me is a watch I really like. It's well made, nice looking, mechanical, a touch different but familiar nonetheless and more over, very affordable. Is it perfect? Nah, what watch is? Do I even want a perfect watch? If I found one wouldn't the hunt be over? It's not perfect at all, but it's great and its shortcomings are over ruled by its remarkable price. So, inevitably this is going to be another fairly positive review, sorry to those of you who think I'm too positive. I just love watches and the Orient Sparta, the subject of this review, is simply another great affordable watch. The Sparta is a hybrid of vintage military styles that come together to make something new. There are clear elements of field and pilot's styles that are mixed up with the addition of a non-lumed steel bezel, slightly modern case design and an oversized day window. What you have in the end is a surprisingly unique watch for one that closely plays off of well-known style
AP 15400 Dial
Decided on an AP 15400 and can't decide between the black or silver dial. Have seen the silver and like it. Haven't seen the black. I know it's personal preference but what do you guys think? I like the reflective properties of the silver. Does the black also reflect the light well, is it a dull black or more of a gloss black. Thanks, Sam
15400 vs 15710
Hi allI had more or less decided on the 15400 black dial. Went to try it with my Wife. Great service and the lady recommended me to try other models. Bad moveTried the diver, the roo black theme with the red needles, roc. Really don't like the chronos, I prefer the clean lookThe diver actually made my heart sing. It's so comfortable and easy to wear. Love the size and most of all the wrist presenceStill like the 15400 cause of the details and the whole finishing from dial to bracelet is simply outstanding. But i know I can't wear that often. The Wife is on the 15400 side as she felt I look great with it and she doesn't like the diver cause of the rubber strap. She felt that the strap doesn't look good and commend the price point. What are your thoughts? If it helps I have a gmt2C, subC and a pam 372 currently
Speedmaster accelerated patina
Hi All,I own a Speedmaster from 1974 but do not wear it often.I did not wear it for 4 months. I remember very well when I stored it in the box that the indexes had a nice light cream / beige patina. This morning I decided to wear the Speed and when I took it out of the box, the index color whas...green.Is there an explanation ( lack of light???) for this accelerated color change? All my boxes have silicagel humidity absorbers, even for a handwash I take off my watches, humidity or water cannot be the cause. The tritium is not dammaged, looks not wrotten, it only changed from cream to appel green.Who can me help understand, can tell me why, knows if an intense sun exposition might reverse the proces or if it will be green forever???Thanks for your expertise.
