2015 Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair Is Coming Up Soon And We Will Be There
2015 marks?the 34th Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and C on a personal note C my second year in a row that I get to visit this unique exhibition. Last year, prior to?my first trip to Hong Kong, I?only had a blunt idea on what to expect as far as the?range of watches on display was concerned C and the fact that over 750 exhibitors were reported to be present made me wonder even more about what exactly I was going to see there. Held between?September 8 and 12, 2015, this year's event will host some 780?exhibitors in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and we'll be there once again C let's see what are some of the more notable points of discussion. You may find my detailed report from the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair of 2014 here?C in a nutshell, though, what you need to know is that this fair is almost exclusively reserved for the watch industry, with just one open day for the public. That means that this is a major event where from the?smaller workshops all the way to?hu
Watch Winner Review: Mark Carson Hawaii Ka La
Shawn H. from Simi Valley, California was the lucky winner of the Mark Carson Hawaii Ka La watch that was the watches-dealer giveaway piece in August. Here are his thoughts and wrist shots:The human mind is a complicated thing. Upon entering The watches-dealer Giveaway, I left a positive comment and I said that I was going to win the Individual Design Mark Carson Ka La Watch. ?How did I know that? ?I'm not quite sure. Because, to be honest, I thought to myself that it was a pretty nice watch. ?But, it's not a watch that I would spend my hard earned money on.Long after forgetting about this watch, I received an email from Ariel Adams that I was the winner. ?I couldn't Google fast enough to see which watch that I had won. ?I said to myself, " Oh yeah, I remember that watch". ?So, I started learning as much as I could about this watch. ?And before the excitement wore off, I was in love with it. ?So, now the wait began. ?Mark Carson was away from his home on the Hawaiian Islands, where the
AP Forged Carbon Chrono weight
Does anyone happen to know the weight of the 44mm forged carbon chrono? I'm assuming it is lighter then the AP Diver steel but I want to know how much lighter. Anyone have experience owning both? Thanks in advance
For All Mankind - Some Questions
Just finished watching the excellent film documentary For All Mankind on DVD. I'd thoroughly recommend it for any space buffs with the added bonus of some cool Speedy wrist shots ;-)I have a couple of questions. Some of the astronauts appeared to have their Speedies on SS mesh bracelets. How did they swap them back to Velcro straps for EVA work during the flight? I have enough trouble swapping straps with a lug tool and screwdriver with the aid of gravity (or was bracelet swapping part of standard NASA training?!)?Also, why do the earth orbit EVA shots 15min or so in look like something out of a Ray Harryhausen movie? I'm a total Apollo anti-cynic, but I have to admit this footage looks a little ropey. Is it the film frame rate? One last question. What music would you have chosen to play on the way? My choice - Elton John 'Rocket Man' (cliche, I know)
