Review: DEFAKTO Eins Nachtschicht
The Defakto Nachschicht (Nightshift) is the first one-handed watch I have had the chance to wear, and using it is a unique experience. Generally speaking, precision and accuracy are key features in the buying and using of a watch, right alongside quality and looks. Yes, there are various stylized watches, like the Nava Ora Unica or the Nooka Zot, that obscure time for the sake of novelty or a unique aesthetic, but it is not often that a midrange mechanical watch chooses to forgo exactitude to create a different experience of wearing a watch. The Nachschicht, and the Defakto Eins line as a whole, is designed around this premise.Case: Black PVD Stainless steelMovement: ETA 2824-2 25 Jewel AutomaticDial: full lume white with black indicesLens: SapphireCase Back: ScrewdownStrap: Black Italian Calf LeatherWater Res.: 50 MDimensions: 42mmThickness: 9 mmLug Width: 20mmWarranty: 24 months returns within 14daysA glance at the Nachschicht wont tell you exactly what time it is, but rather allow y
A Look at the Timefactors PRS-9 Czech Air Force
Flying watches nearly always have some heritage behind them. ?The Bremont MB series, for example. ?You'll only get your mitts on an MB I (the rare one with the red knurled barrel) if you're fortunate' enough to eject from your aircraft in a Martin Baker ejector seat. ?That's impressive enough, but how about a watch that was worn by members of THE most successful WWII RAF squadron, 312 – the Czech Squadron'? ?We're measuring success by flying ability here; there are still seven Spitfires in existence today that were flown by 312. That's the most from any one WWII squadron.Strangely, the watch associated with 312 is rather less well known than most historical aviation watches. ?It's the Longines Czech Air Force (CAF) 3582.The Longines CAF was originally manufactured in 1935 and used the pocketwatch cal.15.94 movement. Marked on the caseback were the unambiguous words "MAJETEK VOJENSK SPRVY" or "Property of Military Affairs". ?Longines supplied three dial and movement variations
Introducing: The NOMOS Glashtte Neomatik 'First Edition' Watches, With Automatic Caliber DU
NOMOS Glashütte has been around since 1990, believe it or not – here at HODINKEE we find it hard to imagine that the company’s already a quarter century old, because they’ve managed to keep a sense of inventiveness in how they present themselves, and in their watches, that makes them seem perpetually fresh. None of this is an accident, of course – in fact, a big part of the reason that NOMOS has as much goodwill from the watch community as it has, stems from its obsessive concentration on getting all the details just right. We’ve all seen innumerable watches from innumerable brands that almost work, but that have that one niggling detail that, like a puncture in a balloon, lets all the air out of a design. NOMOS, on the other hand, manages to get all the details right again, and again, and again, with almost eerie consistency – and with an equally eerily consistent design language, which could easily start to seem repetitive or monotonous, but d
My 1969 pre moon Speedmaster
I bought this 1969 Speedy from the original owner last month and I have been enjoying it on a cordovan NATO strap. I kinda like it
Grandpa`s Omega
I just picked it up from service. They`ve just changed it`s oil and cleaned it from the inside! It is still perfectly functional and amazingly accurate. And I like the way it looks,I just don`t know what to do with it`s dial.I think I`ll leave it the way it is,but it`s kind of shame, because this watch is in almost perfect overall shape.Maybe I`ll give it to some guys who are doing restauration bussiness very well.
