IWC Aquatimer Watch Collection For SIHH 2009: Nice Tech, Weird Looks?
IWC dive watch enthusiasts rejoiced to see a freshened up line of IWC Aquatimer watches released recently at SIHH 2009 in Geneva. There are a number of new models, and a slightly updated a depth gauge version as well (the Deep Two). IWC seemed to take a completely different approach this year as the line is much more colorful and shiny than it was previously. I am sure that the watches are mechanically and functionally superb, but I have mixed feelings on the new looks. Still the details are impressive, especially the use of sapphire crystals over the rotating bezels.People associate professional instruments with IWC watches. The Aquatimer series was always for the serious enthusiast. The new line has models that almost look cartoony in some angles, and the sheer range of colors available seems to miss the point of why people chose IWC Aquatimer watches over competitor offerings. Looking at the large hands, and bight yellows, oranges, blues, and other colors, I kept thinking to myself
Hands-On: With The Gr?nefeld Parallax Tourbillon (Live Pics + Official Pricing)
Basel World is always a lot of fun for us. Not only do we get to see all of the newest releases from the big boys like Omega, Rolex, TAG Heuer, Blancpain, Patek, and Breguet, but we also get to see some friends that we only get to hang with a few times per year. It's even more fun when some of those friends happen to be some really talented watchmakers doing things in a completely different way than those guys mentioned above. The Gr?nefeld Brothers are truly talented watchmakers (both trained at Renaud et Papi), and two honestly good guys. Which is why it's so great to see them pushing things past their time-only, mega-bad ass One Hertz with oversized dead-seconds and show us a brand new in-house tourbillon: The Parallax. 2 OF 5 Blake was nice enough to give us a run-down on this piece when it was announced (read full details here) so I'll just point out a few things that struck me about this watch. First, it really is a direct extension of the One Hertz, aesthetically.
Diver bezel discrepancy
Hey guys was trying to figure out why in some pictures, for example AP website, the ceramic diver bezel looks like the marker at 12 is half on the rotating portion and half off. If that makes sense. Please see the AP example with the half/half to me eye bezel And then what I think looks good, in this example a screenshot of fightonsc's diver. (Sorry for poaching your shot J, hope you don't mind) What am I missing here? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
A couple Scans
