Bonus Audio: Arnold Schwarzenegger Talks Watches
He’s back… and WatchTime’s got him. Our November-December 2012 issue featured “The Terminator’s Timers,” my profile of Hollywood icon and influential watch collector Arnold Schwarzenegger. Now, exclusively on , you can hear excerpts from our interview, conducted at Schwarzenegger’s Santa Monica office. In these clips from the interview, the actor and former California governor talks about the “watch drawer” in which he keeps his collection, his disdain for winders, the origins of his relationship with Audemars Piguet, and his role in the big-watch revolution.Receive all the news, features and reviews from WatchTime for free! Got the SMPc this afternoon..
Went to the AD, tried on both the black and blue dials, and chose blue.I had the original wavy blue dial 10 years ago, and figured its time to get one again.Neat glossy dial, updated bezel, great legibility.Sizing took a while to get the right fit, and more time consuming though.Overall very glad I pulled the trigger, classic design update. Thanks for reading everyone!!
Double Incoming - really pleased
Guys, I have been looking at the 5170 for quite some time. Love the manual wind, always been a sucker for Chronographs. Recently I found myself in need of a white metal dress watch. This was enough to push me over the edge, while I love the 5496 & 5396 and there exists other cool references, the chrono makes this so much superior IMO.While I was there I could help myself and had to pick up a little 'beater' too. Not sure it will last that long but I never see them, I know they are tough to find, not 5711 tough but tough nonetheless. Thought it would be a good pick up. I have a goal to get down to five watches, all watches I love. Adding to it makes it tougher but this purchase is truly over due. Now I need to keep finding ways to trim it down or do I just surrender. I seem to be loading up on Patek lately. Really want another AP RG 44. This is tough!Currently - 5170G, 5980R-001, 5711, 5167, RM11 Ti, GMT BLNR, IWC Le Petit Prince - blue dial. I have some nice pieces but how do you t
Glorious Journey
Greetings TRF members. Been a lurker for quite some time and have appreciated the opportunity to research and narrow down my search for the perfect 1st Rolex. My beautiful wife and I are currently in the Caribbean celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary when out of the blue this morning, she presents me with something nearly as beautiful as her, a gorgeous white faced DateJust II with fluted bezel on an oyster bracelet. My heart stopped and the tears welled up as I opened the present and realized what was before my eyes. The exact watch I have zeroed in on after much research with a beautiful wife/mother who continues to get joy from giving joy.Thankful to God for the perfect woman in my life who pays attention. As usual, this has been in the works between her and my two daughters for at least 6 months as it sat idle in the safe, only seeing the light of day long enough for my girls to take a picture with the watch on their wrist and a big smile months ago!Grateful today on my 24th ann
Tall guy and 36mm
I'm 6'3 tall, about 240 lbs with a 7 and a smidge inch wrist. My daily wear watch for the past 7 years has been a Seiko 6309. I want to buy my first Rolex to be my 24/7 everyday watch. I like the look of the older 36mm Explorers (like the 5500), but I've had a couple people say they think it would look to small on me. I'm a police officer and would wear the watch at work. I don't like the garish giant watch look, but I'm used to the size of the Seiko. I'd likely end up putting the Rolex on a rubber strap at some point (my preference). Thoughts?
