The Value Proposition: The Longines Heritage Diver Chronograph
If you're looking for a very respectable amount of bang for the buck, you could do quite a bit worse than Longines, who have in recent years developed a very large collection of timepieces that are based on watches from their very long history (which, in one form or another, goes back to the early 1830s when Auguste Agassiz set up shop in St. Imier, and founded the company that would eventually become Longines.) The entire Heritage Collection, in fact, is a pretty rich trove of timepieces that offer pretty great value in one form or another, from the great looking Conquest Heritage to this fantastically old-school monopusher chronograph with trench-watch style lugs, and many others. New AP ROO Owner - Some Questions
Bought my first AP from SohAIS AIS Watches and am excited to get it tomorrow - Aamir has been great to work with! It's the ROO 25940SK.OO.D002CA.03 Black Dial. Quick questions for everyone:What watch winder do you recommend for the watch and the appropriate settings?Would you only get the watch serviced at the AP Boutique (I'm in NYC so lots of options)?What's the best way to clean the rubber band and also rubber bezel? The band is relatively cheap ($300) but not sure if AP replaces the bezel as well when serviced.Last question, promise - to ensure the watch is water proof and keeping accurate time do you recommend taking it to AP or a place such as Tourneau. AP said they'd need to send it out and it could take a few weeks.Best,Scott

Resale Value: AP vs. Rolex
So I've been trying to talk my wife into letting me pick up a 15400 for myself and one thing I mentioned is that they were pretty liquid. If for some reason I needed to sell it, I could do so fairly quickly. Then she started asking about values and how it holds up vs. Rolex and why I don't get another Rolex instead. I wasn't sure but I told her they were about the same, but Rolex is probably a bit easier to offload.What do you guys think? What would be the average depreciation per year for a standard SS Rolex vs. a SS AP of similar cost? I was thinking they would both be the same at about 5% per year.She actually would rather see me get the blue faced yachtmaster but I cant get the AP out of my head.
