Devon Tread 2 Watch Preview
In a few weeks California-based Devon will unveil the follow-up version to their now famous Devon Tread 1 watch. It was originally explained to me that the Tread 2 watch would be a more simple and inexpensive model. It looks as though a lot of that has changed, but what I do think is still part of the Tread 2 based on early information is that it will have two treads versus three. The Tread 1 has a constantly running belt for the seconds which was cool, but was also a bit loud and consumed a lot of power. The new model will have two tread as I understand it, and a whole lot more.The Tread 2 will have a lot of material upgrades and a more sophisticated design. It will also be very accurate and come in a smaller package. I reviewed the very cool Tread 1 here, and you can see that it is a large timepiece. What's in a name- Henri, Philippe, or Thierry?
I found the recent post regarding the Geneva seal vs the PP seal quite interesting and one commentary in particular caught my attention. Subtona raised the question as to whether the traditional Geneva seal might some day be of added interest to collectors. To be honest, I don't know whether his comments were sincere or facetious, but I'll assume the former.Expanding on that concept I wondered whether the watches produced under Henri Stern's stewardship might be similarly valued differently from those of his son Philippe, or grandson Thierry. For me the best days of Patek Philippe were under the reign of Henri until 1992-3 when he turned control to his son Philippe, who in turn passed control to his son Thierry in 2009.My first Patek was purchased in 1992 (certificate signed by Henri) and my more recent purchases have certificates signed by either Philippe or Thierry. Patek Case Refurbishing
Hello,I see that when you send a watch into Patek for servicing they offer 'case refurbishing' for a pretty reasonable additional fee. Can anyone tell me to what extent they will clean up a fairly deep ding in a stainless case as part of this service or would that be considered additional work. I would also be curious if the perceived value of the watch would be lowered after a case refurbishing (in a similar way that an unpolished watch is worth more in the resale market).Thanks
