A Conversation with Tom Anstead of Anstead Watches
A few weeks ago, we got the chance to chat with Tom Anstead, owner and designer of Anstead Watches. Anstead is a retired officer of the United States Navy. His naval career, as well as the watches available to him during his time in service, very much informed the design of the Anstead Oceanis.Anstead's first generation Oceanis debuted a couple of years ago, a product of one of the early Kickstarter watch campaigns. The second generation debuted in September. We wanted to get his thoughts on a second generation timepiece, his plans for the future of Anstead Watches, and his thoughts on the potential of the watch industry in the United States.Ed Estlow for Worn and Wound:With easy global sourcing and availability of watch parts, there are dozens, maybe hundreds, of boutique brands starting up. I'm curious C what was your motivation or overall goal for starting another one?Tom Anstead:Well, from my prospective, I didn't necessarily see the hundreds of boutique brands. I knew of some out
Ever regret buying an Omega?
I've owned 2 Omega watches and parted ways with both. The first automatic watch I ever purchaed was a Rolex Datejust (3135 movement) and its reliability and accuracy made it difficult for me to accept anything less. I've been entertaining purchasing another Omega since I like Omegas aesthetically and hope that the third time is a charm.
Jumped off the cliff !
Hello everyone! I finally joined the club. After snooping around here and traveling to a few AD's to try on different models I am finally a Patek owner. I went with a 5712 in stainless and a 5146 in WG with cream face. LOVE THEM. I really think these two will serve me well for work and casual. Unfortunately, I have already identified a couple more Patek needs... but that's half the fun.I am on a short business trip, but I will post some pics upon my return. Thanks to the many posters here who have helped me through posts and comments. Special thanks to those who have provided me priceless opinions and help via PM. It is truly appreciated.
3445
My wife's dad passed away recently and she got his Patek 3445. Just back from Patek's service in Geneva. She loves it. It's a special watch.
Went watch shopping and to dinner in San Francisco
We went to San Francisco to watch shop for my wife and to visit my daughter and her husband so they could take my wife out to dinner for Mothers day at the Franciscans Restaurant at the Fisherman's Wharf. Unfortunately neither my wife or the AD wanted me to take pictures inside.LOOK AT THE SIGN IN FRONT OF THE TOURBILLON STORE PROTESTING THE SWATCH GROUP
