The Mk II Fulcrum "American Milsub" Dive Watch
Mk II is widely known for not only being one of the first online micro brands but also for producing a great many well made homages to many a great sport and military watch of the past. Mk II is run by a perfectionist named Bill Yao, who transitioned from modding Seiko divers to making his own watches for an adoring online crowd that frequently pre-orders new models long before they will be delivered. The latest model to be announced by Mk II is called the Fulcrum and it's being advertised as an "American Milsub" and it's Mk II's vision of a?theoretical milsub made for the American military. We got to see a prototype of the Fulcrum at Baselworld earlier this year and regardless of its inspiration, the physical watch is impressive. Measuring a sport watch-ideal 42 x 15mm, the Fulcrum is ready for whatever your day holds, with an anti-magnetic, bead-blasted steel case, uni-directional 12 hour bezel, domed sapphire crystal, an HeV and 300m (1000ft) of water resistance. Weighing in at 117g
Thing to Consider Before Buying a Pre-Owned AP!!!
I hope this can become a sticky on the AP Forum as I believe a lot of people considering buying a pre-owned AP would benefit from the advice I am giving out.Always keep in mind the following when making a purchase of a pre-owned AP. Especially when buying a Royal Oak or a Royal Oak Offshore. 1. If you own a vintage AP and don't know the service history on the watch do not send it in for service at AP unless it stops running. Don't let an independent watchmaker work on a vintage AP no matter what. The money you save today, you'll have to pay it tomorrow.2. If you buy a pre-owned modern AP RO or ROO try to get one that is not very old (F series and up) ideally with some service history and in overall great shape. Don't by a beater even if it's a good deal! You'll pay the difference afterwards.3. If you buy a 5402 be very careful with the crown and avoid using the quick-set calendar advance feature that comes with cal. 2121. (While the watch doesn't have a date setting crown position, you
Last night I attended Inside Basel
It was hosted by Watchtime and sponsored by BMW. The only problem is that AUDEMARS PIGUET didn't show up! It's the only reason I went. I was so disappointed. Watchtime advertised that AP would be there and they no show! I spoke with the event coordinator because I thought maybe I was missing something but I wasn't. They said AP no showed because of an event they we're having in Miami.
Speedmaster - leather strap or SS bracelet?
I just came out of a meeting with someone who was wearing their Speedmaster Pro on its stainless steel bracelet. It looked fantastic - very sexy. I also remember watching Apollo 13 with Tom Hanks (a great Speedmaster porn movie) and admiring all the Speedmasters on their metal bracelets. However, I have always preferred a leather strap on the Speedmaster. I am not a fan of the standard leather deployant model fitted by Omega on the Speedmaster (too bulky for my 6.5 wrist). My solution was to buy my Speedie Pro with the metal bracelet and then fit a traditional leather buckle black Omega strap in the Omega Boutique before I walked out with my new watch. It looks great and is a bit more vintage as well. Doing it this way was a little more expensive but I have the option of the stainless steel bracelet if I want it. Having seen the metal bracelet version today I'm tempted to go back to it.What do people here prefer - leather or metal ?
