Transocean, thoughts?
Hi all,I have not delve into B retiring in a long time. And never thought I would until I saw a Transocean while passing a local jeweler. I did a double take on a black one on mesh bracelet. I just loved the simplicity of the dial, as I wear suits for work, and the refined look. Didn't look like a Breitling. The black dial would complement the rest of my collection. Questions; How is that mesh bracelet? Is is comfortable and versatile? What kind of strap can I put on it if I wanted a different look?Any comments and pictures greatly appreciated as I am eager to add it to my collection. Thanks and Happy New Year to all!Roger
Omega Basel display
Went to the Basel event at the local boutique this evening. Lots of cool stuff.Event was good. Not many people there but it was kind of come and go. Bent the ear of one of the sales guys for nearly an hour who I think was tired of getting watches out for me by the time I left. Some things I learned:The Deep Black is amazing, and I WILL be getting one.The new PloProf doesn't do anything for me.Omega changed it up a bit and now all POs that are orange/grey are Titanium (not sure I ever saw that as part of the announcement). In the past, the blue variants were always Ti. And they now have a blue PO in stainless steel. The 18kt PO on rubber strap (that looks like alligator). This is blue, although hard to see in the pic. This has now taken the droolworthy place on my list over the 18kt/Oysterflex Yachtmaster. The new Speedmaster Moonphase is pretty sweet.
Planet Ocean 8500 rubber strap and deployant MSRP
Does anyone happen to know the MSRP for the rubber strap and deployant buckle for the 45mm 8500 PO? I know what they go for on ofrei, but might be in the area of some dealers next week and if any of them had the straps in stock I wanted to know what the price comparison would be. TIA!
Submersible tolerances
Does anyone know at what depth Rolex tests their movements to say that at 1000 feet or 4000 feet, the watch can reliably timekeep?I can’t imagine that at 4050 feet, a Sea Dweller stops functioning or at 1020 feet a Sub ceases to work. There has to be some percentage cushion built in. Also, does anyone know if Rolex actually submerges the movement or do they, using some equipment and technology, replicate the pressure and conditions experienced at that ocean depth ...These are more geek questions than anything and because someone I know recently asked “how can you be for sure that the watch will function nearly a mile undersea?”Thanks.
Here is an article on Grey Market Dealers
I found this to be just an ok read. The author made it seem like its a rarity to see Rolex on the grey market, which we all know to not be true. And the author only touched on watches being sold at a discount. He made no mention of in demand watches like the Daytona C that goes for a premium in the grey market. quillandpad/2018/02/03/na...fores-archive/Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
