Armin Strom Gravity Date Watches Of All Four Elements
The Gravity line of watches by Armin Strom is something that we have discussed before:?I wrote about the Gravity Date Tourbillon here?and Ariel did a hands-on article about the time-only Gravity Fire here. But rest assured, this time we have gravitated toward this line again?for two good reasons:?first, we are talking about a different and, relatively speaking, more affordable watch than the tourbillon, and yet a bit more complex than the Gravity Fire. Secondly, I would like to share what I learned about the details of the more unusual design code of the brand.I recently had a chance to sit down with Claude Greisler, Armin Strom's Director of Horology and gain some insight into why they create things the way they do. As we have discussed in the past, large portions of the design language comes from the direction set by the brand's namesake founder over 40 years ago. One of the present day features that is immediately drawn from that direction is the tab on the case down at 6 o'clock.Gr
Patek 5396 vs Rolex BLRO
Hi guys, I just wanted to get a feel from the Patek community. I am considering either Patek 5396 vs BLRO. I know they are very different watches and serve different purposes. I already have a GMTII TT and SubC, so want to venture out to Patek. I spoke with someone at an AD (mistake? haha) and they did say that the Pateks in general are delicate than rolexes. How true is this? I know rolexes are tool watches and durable. I simply don't want to wait months for watch to be in service. In addition, I'm looking for a nice clean dress watch. The BLRO is very nice in person, and I don't want to spend money on both. Thoughts? As a background, I have to take my watch off all the time for work. I also don't want a watch to sit in a safe all the time. Thanks in advance.Other Pateks I am considering are 5205, 5146.
Which dome crystal model?
Currently looking to sell my 164 and get a dome crystal style. What options do you recommend? Recently fell in love of domed crystals after seeing my friend's 233. Can't really afford the 233 now though....The 422 is great but I am not sure about a 47. What else is there? (No radiomirs).
Pam 111 AR Coating
Hello all, I have a PAM 111 M series, I know the watch has a single coating of AR but is it below the crystal or above? Im asking because Ive had the watch for 2 years now and I want to use the cape cod cloth to clean it up a bit and I don't want to touch the crystal and remove the AR coating. Thanks
18038 Lume coming off.
Hi all, I am more than a little bummed. Some lume has come off the dial on my 1987 18038. The watch has never been serviced so it is long past due. I have spoken to some friends who have Rolex and they have said the RSC in New York is the way to go. I'll call them Monday to see what it all entails. I was hoping for some tips. I was going to take some pictures of the watch befor it is sent. I have added two links to the bracelet. Do I need to remove them? Any suggestions?
