Close-Up: 5 Grand Seiko Watches That Pay Homage to 1964 Classic
Last year, Seiko added several new models to its prestigious Grand Seiko watch collection. Along with the new hi-beat GMT models, which we covered here, these Grand Seiko watches include five new models that pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of a fondly remembered Grand Seiko from 1964.The Grand Seiko Homage to 1964 watches are all limited editions, with three of the watches equipped with Seiko’s hybrid mechanical-quartz Spring Drive movement and the other two containing a high-precision quartz movement, Seiko Caliber 9F82. The clean simplicity of the new Grand Seiko models echoes that of the 1964 Seiko “Self-dater,” the very first Grand Seiko watch to incorporate a date window. The “Self-dater” intended to be a more “practical” version of the original Grand Seiko is a favorite among devotes of Seiko’s historical watch models. The three watches with the Caliber 9R15 Spring Drive movement (References SBGA103, SBGA105, and SBGA107) in
PPR Becomes the Majority Shareholder of Sowind Group
Sowind Group and PPR jointly announced today the launch of a reserved capital increase of Sowind Group that will be fully subscribed by PPR. PPR will then become the majority shareholder of Sowind with a 50.1 % stake. PPR already owned a 23% share based on a strategic partnership agreement signed in 2008 when Sowind was controlled by Luigi Macaluso, who passed away in October last year. The transaction allows PPR's Luxury Group to strengthen its presence in the haute horlogerie segment while supporting Sowind Group's international development. Sowind Group includes Girard-Perregaux and JeanRichard. Under the agreement, Francois-Henri Pinault becomes Chairman of Sowind Group, alongside Monica Mailander Macaluso, who becomes Vice-Chairman.Sowind Group, which is one of the last independent Swiss watchmaking manufactures, has a presence in 60 countries, namely with the Girard-Perregaux and JeanRichard brands.Fran?ois-Henri Pinault said: This operation strengthens PPR's Luxury Group in the

New to TRF - Planning first Rolex Purchase - GMT II LN - thoughts appreciated!
Hi All -Delighted to have joined the forum, I'm in the US and am planning out my first Rolex purchase - It will be for daily wear and I've fallen in love with the GMT Master II LN. I am currently in the process of sourcing one pre-owned. My watch dealer (who I trust explicitly and have purchased a number of non-Rolex watches) has a nice example with box and papers, its a G serial (2010) but the papers were stamped end-2012. It has not had a service. He is offering it at a fair price but has also told me that if I wait and another watch comes in post-2015 with the 5yr international warranty he would sell it to me for the same price. So my questions are:1. I'm assuming nothing has changed between 2010-present with this watch? 2. I'm in no rush, should I wait for a newer example to come up or just go for this one? The 5y Warranty is a consideration but more importantly if I decide to trade it because it doesn't agree with me as a daily wear watch, would I be better served value-wise with
