The Future Of Porsche Design Watches And The Timepiece No. 1
Porsche Design Timepiece No. 1 WatchThe picture above is an early drawing of what will be the Porsche Design Timepiece No. 1, the first watch actually officially made by Porsche Design as we understand it. Porsche Design has been involved in watchmaking since 1972, and has worked with a range of different watch companies to produce its watch designs. These have included brands such as Orfina, IWC, and Eterna over the years, but a new era of in-house production will come to Porsche Design soon.Earlier in 2014, Porsche Design ended its longstanding relationship with Swiss Eterna watches to produce timepieces for the Stuttgart-based German company. The precise reason for the termination of the relationship remains unclear?but I theorized that it may have had something to do with Eterna's purchase by the Chinese company China Haidian. After the purchase, Eterna's CEO Patrick Kury also stepped down and it was unclear what the future of both companies would be like.Several months ago I spoke
Wempe Glashutte Zeitmeister Sport Watches
Wempe Glashutte Sport Watches - black dialsMost of our readers have probably not heard of the German brand Wempe. A jeweler since 1878 and primarily known as a watch retailer, they added their own watch brand in 2006, under the Zeitmeister line. Nice watches, but little known, especially in the US. They do have a major store in New York City though. This year, after four years of work, they are adding a full line of sport watches, and I like how they look.Models include a three-hand and chronograph in the Wempe Zeitmeister Sport Herren Automatic and the Zeitmeister Sport Chronograph, as well as a three-hand and chronograph diver with the Zeitmeister Taucher Automatic and Zeitmeister Taucher Chronograph.Wempe Glashutte Sport Watches - white dialsWempe offers both men's and women's models in the Sport collection, with first-class ETA movements, properly proportioned hands, and nice clean dials. Not design standouts, but well-chosen design elements that should age quite well. Let's go ove
Introducing: The Patek Philippe 5327, A Brand New Perpetual Calendar Model In A New 39mm Case (Live
This year, Patek put the focus on higher end complications, not the least of which is the perpetual calendar. We have an entirely new reference in the 5327, which is very much the same in the grand scheme of things, thought very much different in the world of Patek Philippe. The watch replaces the 5140, though the 5140 will remain in production in a black tuxedo dial and a new grey dial, both in platinum for a limited time. The 5327's story is all about the case and dial, and in some way offers a lot of what modern Patek buyers might want C a larger case and Breguet dial. 1 OF 3 The 5327 shares a similar case design to the Calatrava 5227. First, one must understand that the 5327 uses the very same movement that has existed with Patek perpetuals for 35+ years C caliber 240Q. So that means, technically, you'll have roughly the same movement as you'll see in the 5140 and the 3940 before that. With that comes a great micro-rotor, self-winding caliber that is quite thin,
Your favourite RO
I just wanted to share a thread and love to Royal Oaks and was really curious on what other peoples opinions are on their favourite Royal Oak. Ill start off by saying 15202 just edges it in front of the 15300.
Blue dial with black shows and belt
I am looking to buy my first nice watch and need it to be highly versatile. The only watch that I seem to like that fits this criteria and my tiny wrists is the OP 39. I really do not like the silver colored dial, and while I like the blue, I am concerned with how a blue dial will look with black shoes and a black belt.I know that many will say to just get what I like but I won't be happy with blue OP 39 if I look like an idiot wearing it everyday looking like I'm color blind.Thoughts?
