Early birthday gift
Saw my grail a couple of weeks ago in AD window and decided to treat myself for my upcoming birthday in December and so left a deposit to hold and thought i would collect next month on my birthday. Well as you can imagine I've been itching to pick it up. Well decided i could not wait any longer and collected yesterdaywill post more pics later
Speedmaster's crown
I've been looking throughout the forums and reviews for the speedmaster, but I can't seem to find out whether or not the watch's crown is screw down or not. Does anyone know if the crown is non screw down in older models, but are screw down in the newer sapphire/coaxial models? Thanks!
Has anyone bought the 5227 yet?
I was admiring the beauty of 5227 on Youtube and was wondering if anyone here has one.I have the 5127, which I purchased new before the 5227 came out.I was heartbroken when I saw the 5227's officer caseback but was relieved when I saw the shocking price tag on the white gold 5227: $37500!!!!!!!For that price, you could probably buy a dress watch from Lange AND buy sport watches one from AP one from Rolex!!But that officer's caseback is really to die for.
Incoming and honeymooning with my new Patek
First, many thanks to everyone here. I received a lot of great advice, even the conflicting opinions were valuable. In the end as watch lovers, we need to do what we want and when it sings to you, you know it is right.Second, my thanks to Dean who worked with me on this purchase, both the strategy of what to sell and what to look at. I did look at several other pieces, a Breuget Big Date Marine, Vacheron Overseas, AP RO 15400, Patek Aquanaut and another Lange, a Lange 1.With that said, this was a drawn out process, I realigned my collection, sold three pieces, lost 42 pounds and 1/2 off my wrist. I had three goals in mind when I started, improve my rotation, upgrade the quality of my collection and reduce the size of what I was wearing.I have been thrilled with my purchase and now present to you my new Patek 5711a-1a Nautilus in white. The white dials sings to me. It is sharp, clean, modern and very easy to read. The white dial is not really white in a painted sense, more like a
Blue dial with black shows and belt
I am looking to buy my first nice watch and need it to be highly versatile. The only watch that I seem to like that fits this criteria and my tiny wrists is the OP 39. I really do not like the silver colored dial, and while I like the blue, I am concerned with how a blue dial will look with black shoes and a black belt.I know that many will say to just get what I like but I won't be happy with blue OP 39 if I look like an idiot wearing it everyday looking like I'm color blind.Thoughts?
